As a lifelong perfectionist, Iām rarely satisfied with my own workābut Anarkali has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It feels like the beginning of something Iāve only just uncovered.
Iāve loved theatre since I was a kid, secretly memorizing Bollywood lines in my bathroom, but I never had the confidence to pursue acting. Stepping into this world now has surprised me in the best ways. Iām deeply grateful to Ayeshah for seeing potential in me that I didnāt see in myself, and to the veteran cast for guiding us newcomers with such patience.
Sharing South Asian stories with wider audiences has been especially meaningful. Watching people connect with our cultureāthe music, history, and emotionāfelt powerful and deeply personal.
Further more, choreographing this show was a dream Iāve carried for years. It wasnāt easy, and it definitely wasnāt perfect, but hearing that the dances moved people, even brought them to tears, has been the greatest joy. I feel grateful, lifted, and more inspired than ever.
Ayeshah, thank you for your belief.
To the cast, you were incredible.
To my courtesansāmy whole heart is yours. We lived our secret tawaif dreams.
To Raziaāyou awakened the tender woman and fierce protector in me.

Every beat of of this song reminded me why I fell in love with Bharatanatyam. Grateful for the magic of sharing the stage with the incredible Kathak Rockers and my beautiful co-performer @raksha.singh1 ā thanks for making rehearsal fun and being so immediately easy to collaborate with.
Thank you @keka.kar and the full FCCRS team for organizing an amazing event for an amazing cause!
Hereās to more rhythm, more expression, and more stories told through dance. The stage will always call us back. š

Its definitely hard to choreograph something unique when you have already seen perfect choreography to a song. This class was a push but Iām glad I took the challenge to keep working on this skill set.

In this segment of Tu Jhoom, the courtesans dance before Anarkali, positioning themselves as a shield against the guards who come to claim her for her doomed destiny. Their efforts, however, cannot hold, and the harsh reality of their helplessness crashes over themāgrief, anger, confusion, and mounting chaos swirling together. Even as their sister, their friend, is dragged toward her fate, they continue to move with defiant grace, their bodies and steps echoing sorrow and resistance. In their relentless motion, they pleadāthrough every sway and turnāfor a fragment of peace amid the storm of inevitability.
Tu Jhoom is the culminating piece of Anarkali, a production by Dreamers HTX which I had the honor of choreographing. Thank you all for the love, support, and energy you shared with this showāhereās to many more stories told through movement, music, and devotion.
