When your nails start growing long, it’s usually a sign.
A sign that I’ve been away from clay for a while too long, maybe.
After almost two months off, I finally made it back to the Friday night workshop held by @maudvanderl .
I had needed some distance.
A recent commission pushed me into new territory an enriching experience, but also one that left me questioning the way I create, and why.
Now, something feels different, a bit quieter, a bit more intentional, I think I’m not just experimenting anymore. I sit on the stool with questions, with ideas, with shapes I’d like to explore.
I’m not sure what will come out of it, but I hope something honest about who am I and what is in my head.
Bringing a ceramic piece home from the studio is always special. There, I allow myself to get “messy,” to work with raw material, to embrace the chaos of the process. Then, once it’s home, I see it differently. It has changed, settling into my space, both familiar and new.
