Bringing a combination of quirky charm and infectious energy, Shimmy can channel classic Hollywood, be playfully cheeky, or serve fierce diva realness. Shimmy LaRoux is an internationally headlining performer, crowned Miss Burlesque World 2022, and is a 5-time inductee into the Top 50 Most Influential Burlesque Performers in the World list. She headlined the 2023 Tulsa Burlesque Festival, was a Featured Performer at the Panama Burlesque Festival, the Colorado Burlesque Festival, and the What the Funk Festival in Seattle. She also headlined the 2023 Baby Grand Festival in Cape Town, South Africa, becoming the first Black Performer to do so. She is also honored to be a 2019 and 2023 Mover, Shaker, and Innovator at the Burlesque Hall of Fame, a headliner at the 2019 and 2024 Ohio Burlesque Festival, and the winner of Best Overall at the 2019 Dublin Burlesque Festival. Three chances left to see MONSTERS OF THE AMERICAN CINEMA by Christian St. Croix at Visual Arts Collective “The Good Time. We’re open six nights a week…we play the classics. Casablanca. Psycho. Citizen Kane…Our biggest nights are the Monster Movie Double Features.” - Remy, Monsters of the American Cinema Monsters of the American Cinema tells the story of Remy Washington (Thomas Miller) and Peter “Pup” Miller (Nathan Pearce). After his husband’s death, Remy, a Black man, inherits a drive-in movie theater and takes on the unexpected responsibility of raising his late-husband’s straight, white teenage son, Pup. The two form a bond over their shared love of classic monster movies but soon, their connection begins to fracture, and the real horrors start to emerge. April 30, May 1, & May 2. All performances begin at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. Come early (and stay after) for a drink, a little popcorn, and enjoy the final production of our 2025-26 season. This April, Alley Repertory Theater presents: Monsters of the American Cinema by Christian St. Croix Say hello to stage manager Lexi Johns Lexi Johns (she/her) is a Boise-based actor and stage manager. Her recent credits include stage managing and understudying in Othello with The Boise Bard Players. You can catch her acting as “Jane” in The Luminary Theatre’s upcoming production of Funnie: The Most Lamentable Comedie of Jane the Foole.
