[EXPOSITION] Uwe Wittwer.

OPENING TOMORROW UWE WITTWER Avant que le verre ne cède Musée Jenisch, Vevey, Switzerland May 1st - August 9, 2026 Opening: Thursday, April 30, 6:30 PM Avenue de la Gare 2, CH-1800, Vevey Swiss artist @uwewittwerstudio (born in 1954, lives and works in Zurich) presents Avant que le verre ne cède, his first solo exhibition in French-speaking Switzerland, at @jenischmuseedartdevevey . Curated by Marie Gaitzsch and Margaux Farron, the exhibition features monumental works and smaller ones, mainly watercolours, alongside charcoal drawings and oil paintings, and highlights several of the artist’s most emblematic series. Visitors will discover Wittwer’s artistic evolution from the late 1990s to the present day, through a selection of works that explores the recurring themes of his practice: the relationship to history, however painful it may be; to memory, whether collective or personal; and to the dreamlike, however deeply rooted in reality it may be. The exhibition features iconic series by the Swiss painter, such as the “Im Walde” (“In the Woods”) series, large-format watercolors depicting faint silhouettes set against a sparse forest backdrop. This forest is representative of many of Uwe Wittver’s works, where figurative or even iconic scenes contrast with entire areas of the painting that are erased, like fragments of memory fading with time. Uwe’s painting often serves to remind us that truth and memory are constantly being destroyed and reconstructed, and that the history that reaches us is not always the one that is told to us, or painted. Beneath their refined surfaces, his works often carry a quiet tension — between beauty and unease, clarity and fragility, between truth and representation. Portrait, 2023 Oil on canvas 57 x 52 cm (22 ½ x 20 ½ in.), framed Im Walde (In the Woods), 2018 Watercolor on paper 191 x 161 cm (75.2 x 63.4 in.), framed Im Walde (In the Woods), 2018 Watercolor on paper 191 x 161 cm (75.2 x 63.4 in.), framed Narrenschiff (Ship of Fools), 2020 Charcoal on paper 192 x 145 cm (75.6 x 57.1 in.), framed Gruppe (Group), 2022 Oil on canvas 130 x 110 cm (51 ⅛ x 43 ¼ in.) #UweWittwer #Painting #SwissArt #GaleriePeterKilchmann

UWE WITTWER — La Cloche dans la Forêt On view at Galerie Peter Kilchmann, 11-13 rue des Arquebusiers, Paris Exceptionally, the gallery will remain open until 9:30PM this Thursday, March 19, as part of the Printemps des Galeries: the perfect opportunity to come and discover our new exhibition ! Majestic oil paintings and watercolours shape "La Cloche dans la Forêt" (The Bell in the Grove), where Swiss artist Uwe Wittwer (born 1954 in Zurich, where he lives and works) continues his investigation into memory, history, and the perception of images. Drawing from archives, masterpieces, and contemporary sources, Wittwer transforms and reanimates familiar motives, revealing fragmented narratives in which the act of looking slows down and shifts. Through ruins, historical scenes, and negative imagery, his works question how images evolve and persist as unstable traces of the past. On view until May 9. Installation views by Hafid Lhachmi
