Fa’afetai lava to everyone who tuned it at the Midland Library for the NHPI Lunch & Learn yesterday! 💛📚 It was a great joy to collaborate with our @samoapdx family to host both an Elei and a Lei making workshop! 🫶🏽It’s always a pleasure to be in community, we’re beyond grateful for the hosts, sponsors, & supporters of this event @multcohealth @commissioner_vincejonesdixon @multcomoyer @d2_shannonsingleton @multcohealth @samoapdx 🌺It was an honor to pay homage to our Pasifika roots through cultural crafting. Together we made Elei art, & fresh plumeria lei while having group discussions 💛 We talked about the importance of preserving our culture, art, & traditions during yesterday’s crafting session 🌏 From city commissioners to cultural health department representatives, we want to give a big shout out to all the Pasifika people working out in the community & simultaneously inspiring other Pasifika folks here in diaspora! Share this opportunity with them!                                                                                                        UTOPIA PDX is seeking 3 Pacific Islander artists to design and install public art pieces at 3 selected community locations in the Portland Metro area (locations TBD), turning everyday places into sites of cultural affirmation and pride. This project is funded by Metro’s Community Placemaking Grant, and celebrates Pasifika and QTPI stories, traditions, and connection.
