Congratulations to Medrie Purdham, author of "The Solve," winner of the 2026 City of Regina Writing Award, and to the very worthy runners-up, Keegan Grandel ("Lineage") and Carla Harris ("The Accumulation of Waiting"). It was a great thrill to be asked by @skwritersguild to participate in the jury process alongside @samanthajonespoet and it was a tremendous pleasure to read all of the entries. The quality of work was admirable, and the decision was not easy. All three of the finalists' poems pack emotion, craft, and careful attention into each line. I look forward to seeing what each of these poets do next.

I’m grateful to the Ontario Arts Council, the Government of Ontario, Wolsak and Wynn Publishers, and Biblioasis Inc. for a pair of Recommender Grants that will fund my next fiction project. OAC funding validates and facilitates Ontario creators’ efforts, providing benefits both economic and spiritual to everyone in this big, strange, beautiful province. @ontarioartscouncil

Amazing times at @thebasementrevue last night where I got to road test some new work in front of an incredibly warm audience, and also fulfill the long held dream of opening for Pasha Malla. Crazy lineup for a cabaret-style evening: the astonishing Tanika Charles, the courageous Su Chang, the reverby MOONRIIVR, the incredible Saeed Teebi, the indie-dub stylings of Boyhood, Pasha's funny and emotionally devastating work, and the polymath talent of Leanne Betasamosake Simpson (backed by Boyhood). All entertainingly hosted by @flannerylawrence and Jason. What a night.

It was a sweet and genuine thrill to learn that Field Work had been chosen by the folks at @thetwinbill as the best nonfiction baseball book of 2025. First of all, I really do love TTB and appreciate what they do -- pairing baseball-themed works of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction with excellent artwork (executed by human beings). Head Twin Biller Scott has been good enough to have me on the podcast a couple of times, and I've enjoyed that too. And also, I loved two of the other finalists: Makeshift Fields by @tigerpride1976 , and Homestand by Will Bardenwerper, so it feels particularly good have have my book celebrated alongside theirs. Thanks, Twin Bill, and long may you run.

Thoroughly enjoyed the readings by and conversation between @bindu_suresh and @nadiaragbar tonight at @takecoverbooks . I met Bindu when we launched books together 6 years ago, and it was a gift to have a chance to catch up with her. And I remember @norm.nehmetallah raving about Nadia's book to me when it won Invisible's First Novel Prize, so it was lovely to finally meet her. So great to celebrate these fine books published by @invisibooks and @pressassembly a/k/a my book families, a/k/a the best indie publishers in Canada.
