In 1975, we embarked on a journey to educate, inspire and create – a legacy that continues to guide and shape our community and future generations.
Today, the Bass School celebrated its 50-year history alongside our friends and supporters across campus and beyond. Our thanks to special guest Brenda Allen, who serves as District Director for Texas State Senator @nathanjohnsontx , for joining us and presenting resolutions honoring the Bass School and distinguished faculty member Robert Xavier Rodríguez on behalf of Senator Johnson and the State of Texas. The senator was a student and mentee of Dr. Rodríguez, one of the greatest music composers of our time.
Today's celebration featured live music by our students and opportunities to explore our many creative labs and spaces.

Congratulations to Dr. Kevin Waite, honored at UT Dallas' 2026 Investiture Ceremony as Fellow, Anne Stark Watson and Chester Watson History Distinguished Professor.
A historian of the 19th-century United States, Dr. Waite brings his research on slavery and freedom in the American West to both the classroom and the big screen.
