Could robots beat the World Cup champs by 2050? At @robocup2025 , @utcompsci faculty and Texas Robotics core members Joydeep Biswas and Peter Stone faced off against a robot team! At one point, Peter joined the robots on the field, and one of them read his assist perfectly to score an unexpected goal!đ¤â˝ď¸
There is still a long way to go before the 2050 World Cup, but milestones like this show just how far weâve come.đ¤
This time last weekđđ¤ Congratulations class of 2026. You did it!

Joseph Turcios Carranza is set to walk the stage tomorrow!đ
Josephâs advice to incoming students: Take the time to meet new people and enjoy new experiences! Youâll remember those better than what grade you got on an exam.
As a freshman, Joseph was involved in the Freshman Research Initiative and did quantum computing research, and after graduation, Carranza will be working at Visa as a software engineer! Congratulations @bosephburcios ! đ¤ #UT26
Miranda Portales considers her UT Computer Science community her âsecond homeâ and âsecond family.â During her time at UTCS, Miranda was a TA for CS 314 and a student organization president.Â
Her advice for future students is to not overload your schedule and find organizations that fit within your interests. âBeing part of different groups and meeting different people has been the most fulfilling part of my college experience.â
After graduation, Miranda is heading to UT Dallas to pursue a Masterâs in Computer Science with a focus on cybersecurity. Congratulations, @_mirandaportales ! đ¤
đ Arushiâs advice for incoming students: Go to office hours, talk to your TAs and professors, and become friends with your peers. Some of the best learning happens outside the classroom.
Arushi Sharma describes her time UT as being defined by âgrowth, curiosity, and the people around me.â She says UTCS gave her opportunities to explore a variety of interests, including app development, machine learning research and projects that focused on real world impact.
Her time at UTCS helped her learn what type of engineer she wants to be and what kind of problems she wants to help solve, and after graduation, she will be moving to Seattle, Washington to work as a software engineer at Amazon. Congrats, @arushi.sharmaaa !
UT MSAI Spotlight: Carter Leslie đÂ
Reflecting on his journey through the program: I thought I was going to be on my own for the majority of the class but soon discovered that thereâs a very active UTMSAI discord group, along with separate channels for each class. Through them, I was able to find a community to be a part of while pursuing my degree. Itâs truly been an honor and a pleasure working with, learning from, and even helping teach some of my classmates as I got further into the program.Â
Currently a software engineer at USAA, Carter plans to transition into an AI/ML engineering role upon completion of his degree. Looking ahead, he is motivated to apply AI in ways that improve peopleâs lives across industries like healthcare, autonomous systems, and beyond. Congratulations Carter! đ¤
UTCS Senior Spotlight: Amber Liuđ
Amberâs advice for incoming students: College is such a formative experience, and youâll grow so much in the process. Make sure to enjoy it - it goes faster than you realize! The people make the place, so invest in your support system (friends, networking, etc). It makes hard classes/times easier to get through!
After graduation, Amber will move to Chicago to begin her career as a software engineer at State Farm. Congratulations @ambersongliu ! đ¤ #ut26
A sweet end-of-semester reception for our first Robotics Honors cohort. đ§Ąâ¨ We couldnât be prouder of everything youâve accomplished this semester. Wishing you all the best as you head into finals!
A huge thank you as well to visionary venture capitalist Bill Gurley and industry leader Omead Afshar for a stellar conversation with our students about breaking into the robotics industry. đ¤đ¤
Itâs more than just a coding competitionâĄ. ICPC helps UTCS students train for the real world. Their coach, Trung, a current Ph.D. student, tells us how they learn to solve complex problems quickly, think on their feet, and work seamlessly as a team!
Advised by UTCS Professors Etienne Vouga and Glenn Downing đ¤ Congrats on this yearâs placing.
Danielle answers some of our incoming studentsâ most asked questions about UTCS đââď¸đ Class rigor, study spots, internal transfer questions, and most importantly, the best place to get coffee.
CS students whatâs your go to coffee spot??
top 10 again. Hook âem, CS!đ¤
