And that’s a wrap for Feminist Action Week! Thank you all for joining us in events over the past week - and if you missed out this time around don’t worry because there are more events coming your way!
At our gathering on Friday night we enjoyed lots of good food and conversation - as well raising close to $900 for mutual aid to support 2 Aboriginal mothers and their children to be able to get emergency accomodation after fleeing domestic violence. A big thank you to everyone who contributed and if you are able to support these mothers to reach their goal go to @deejkirraart ❤️❤️
In love and rage,
Avin and Maxine

Last night, WoCo hosted a vigil in support of victim-survivors of gendered violence, with students from USyd and the broader Gadigal feminist community. We stand in support of all those who have experienced gendered violence of any form, and mourn victims of femicide. Thank you to everyone who attended last night, even briefly. We are hoping this demonstrates to the university and the broader community the extent to which students care about preventing gendered violence, and standing up for those marginalised based on their genders.
If you or anyone know anyone who needs support or who has experienced gendered violence, some resources are provided below

Honoured to have spoken at the @usydwoco vigil last night. We gathered in grief, in rage, and in solidarity for women and children whose lives have been taken by gendered violence here and across the world.
I’m always floored by the depth of care, love, and staunchness of young people fighting for a better world. The students who organised and showed up last night remind me that even in the face of overwhelming injustice, there is courage, clarity, and collective power.
We held onto something else too: that our rage and our care can coexist. That “difficult” women—loud, defiant, unapologetic—are not the problem, but a force that shifts the world.
We know that seismic shifts are needed to topple old systems of power and it’s never been clearer to me that students will help lead the earthquakes that bring about this change.
JOIN THE NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION FOR THE NDIS! THIS SATURDAY 2PM AT SYDNEY TOWN HALL!!
Our Labor government must be wholeheartedly condemned for its cuts to NDIS, removing lifesaving support for so many disabled folk.
NOTE: In Slide 5, we mistakenly say the protest is on Sunday, this was a mistake as the protest is Saturday
A reminder about Feminist Action Week, starting next week ‼️
Keep an eye out for the incredible events which USyd WoCo has planned with so many incredible groups and individuals. Join us in celebrating feminist activism on Gadigal land, and raise awareness to our corporate university’s lack of action when it comes to feminist justice. Whether inaction in the face of femicide and gendered violence, or allowing anti abortion “activists” to harass vulnerable students on campus, USyd management remains complacent. We must continue to place pressure on them - we will not let gendered violence to continue to be perpetuated on our campus. However, if you’re new to feminist organising, come along to meet staunch members of WoCo and become part of our activist community.
QuAC will be hosting a workshop on transformative justice during the upcoming Feminist Action Week!
Join us on Thursday, May 7th, at 3:30pm to discuss how we can prevent and respond to interpersonal violence within our communities, beyond the harmful approaches of the police and prison system.

JOIN WOCO IN OUR SOLEMN GATHERING DURING FEMINIST ACTION WEEK
Our long awaited vigil has finally been rescheduled to Tuesday 5th of May. Our Labor government continues to act during femicides in so-called Australia. Bring candles and flowers, write messages in support of victim-survivors, and show our university and our governments that we will not continue to allow gender based violence to happen again and again.
Contact us for more information or if you’d like to help organise
Join WoCo and FilmSoc for Agnes Varda’s One Sings, The Other Doesn’t (1977). This film is a narrative documentation of feminist resistance and the fight for reproductive rights in the 1970s.Varda’s film remains as prevalent as ever, especially when abortion rights and bodily autonomy have been the subject of targeted attacks. Through her film, Varda explores alternative youth culture while maintaining a tone of defiance rooted in optimism, achieved through her multifaceted exploration of the emotional worlds of her female leads. Start feminist action week with a chance to meet principled activists in a chill setting, and explore how our campaigns have been depicted in art.
