📣#USTAEastern Launches "The Sportsmanship Project"📣
Tennis is a sport built on respect. That's why we've teamed up with the MatchTennis App to recognize and reward good sportsmanship and fair play at our junior tournaments. The initiative is designed to promote a positive environment for all who participate in tennis.
The Sportsmanship Project will reward nominees in the following ways:
🤝 Players who receive 5️⃣ or more nominations will receive a certificate and a refocus band.
🤝 The nominator who submits the most player nominations over the course of the year will receive a branded USTA Eastern beach towel.
🤝 The tournament director whose events have collected the most nominations will receive a backpack.
🤝 All sportsmanship nominations will be submitted to our sportsmanship subcommittee. From this pool, the subcommittee will select one player from each age group to receive Eastern's annual junior sportsmanship award. Recipients will be honored at the annual Junior Awards Gala, held each year at the #usopen. Honorees will receive two US Open grounds passes with access to Overlook Hospitality.

🎾 Perth Amboy Tennis Play Day 2026 was a tremendous success! 🎾
On Friday, May 15, 2026, the Ronald W. Spevack Tennis Courts were filled with energy, laughter, and community spirit as families from across Perth Amboy came together to celebrate our growing tennis community.
One of the highlights of the evening was recognizing several individuals who have made a lasting impact on tennis in Perth Amboy:
🏅 Dennys Gomez, on celebrating 10 years as Head Coach of the Perth Amboy High School Boys and Girls Tennis Teams. For the past decade, Dennys has dedicated himself to mentoring our student-athletes and building a strong tennis culture in Perth Amboy.
🏅 Celia Perez, a longtime coach with the Perth Amboy Office of Recreation whose passion for teaching and commitment to our youth have made a lasting impact on countless children and families.
🏅 Rekha Kapadia, for her continued support and dedication to expanding tennis opportunities for residents of all ages throughout our community.
🏅 Andrés Sánchez, Community Tennis Coordinator for New Jersey and USTA Coaching with USTA Eastern, for his unwavering advocacy, leadership, and partnership in helping us grow the game of tennis in Perth Amboy.
The turnout was outstanding, and it was wonderful to see so many children and families enjoying the courts, participating in activities, and simply having fun together. The smiles on the kids’ faces were a great reminder of what community programming is all about.
We are excited to continue building on this momentum with additional tennis programming for both children and adults later this spring and throughout the summer.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event such a special evening for our community.

This is NOT a formal clinic. This is a “pull up, move your body, and have a good time” type of day ☀️
We’ll help organize people by play level, rotate games, and keep the energy flowing, but this event is VERY much bring your own everything, so:
🎾 bring your own racket if you have one
💧 bring your own water
🧺 bring anything else you might need
A LIMITED number of rackets will be available, and we mean LIMITED limited 😭
This event is co-ed. Beginners are welcome. Good music will be played. Cute fits are encouraged. The vibes will be handled by us. ✨
