Setting the standard and leading by example!
Aviation Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Andres Borges-Pena, born in Puerto Rico and raised in Houston, Texas, began his journey in the United States Navy as an undesignated Sailor, following in the footsteps of his father and two of his sisters in their military service. Joining the Navy wasn’t initially what he saw for himself, but after reflecting on his family legacy, he realized how much it meant to continue a lineage of military service.
After two years as a PACT Sailor, Borges-Pena was designated as an ABH and began to train for his newfound role in Pensacola, Florida. After graduation, he checked onboard USS Boxer and quickly climbed to the rank of 2nd Class Petty Officer and was placed in a leadership position as the Assistant Leading Petty Officer (ALPO) of the crash division.
As the crash division ALPO, Borges-Pena is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the flight deck firefighting equipment onboard USS Boxer.
ABH2 Borges-Pena is just one example of the excellent leadership at all ranks onboard USS Boxer!
