Last week in Lagos, we joined the U.S. government’s Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Association of Nigeria for the launch of Future Forward: Building Purpose-Driven Youth Leaders programs.
This initiative will equip nearly 250 high school and technical college students across Lagos, Abia, and Akwa Ibom states with leadership skills to excel as they transition into higher education and the modern workforce.
In his remarks, Vice Consul Duncan Brown commended the Mandela Washington Fellowship alumni for moving it forward and bringing forth American excellence in leadership, creativity, and innovation back home to Nigeria.

CDA Heffern participated in the graduation ceremony for the fifth cohort of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-supported Public Health Emergency Management training. Over two weeks, public health professionals strengthened the skills needed to enhance Nigeria’s preparedness and response capacity for infectious disease outbreaks.
