At Xquisit Ushers, we believe service goes beyond appearance and coordination. It is about making every guest feel seen, included, valued, and connected. This moment was more than ushering , it was communication, compassion, and impact. While the event was speaking to many, we made sure no one was left behind. We didn’t start as a big platform. We started as a small page with a simple dream… to help Models, Event Ushers, and Vendors learn, grow, and find real opportunities. Slowly… people began to trust us. Every post, every lesson, every opportunity shared brought someone closer to a better version of themselves. And before we knew it, our little idea became a family of over 70,000 people…young Africans looking for hope, side hustles, gigs, personal growth, and a chance to shine. Then, one morning, everything was gone. No warning. No explanation. Just… gone. Years of teaching. Years of connecting people to jobs. Years of answering DMs at midnight. Years of building a community where people felt seen and supported…wiped out in seconds. We tried everything. Appeals, emails, waiting, praying, hoping. But nothing brought our page back. And that silence was painful not because of the numbers, but because we suddenly had no voice, no bridge to share opportunities, no platform to amplify the people who depended on us. We watched messages flood in: “Why haven’t you posted?” “Are you guys okay?” “I got my first ushering job because of you.” “Please come back.” Those messages broke us… but they also reminded us why we started. So we made a decision: If the page we built could disappear, then we would build something stronger, a bigger, bolder, more connected community than ever before. Today, we are back, with even more passion, more clarity, and more hunger to help. We are rebuilding the world’s largest virtual community for Models, Event Ushers & Vendors, a place where you can Learn, Connect, and Succeed, no matter your background, no matter your story. Losing our 70k page was a setback… but it was also a reminder that you can’t erase a mission, and you can’t silence a community built on purpose. We are here. We are growing again. And this time… we’re unstoppable. Welcome back to the family. Let’s rebuild together.

Professionalism is not just how you look, it’s how you act when no one is watching. ❌ No, it is NOT okay to take food, drinks, décor items, or any materials after an event unless you’re given direct permission. Even if the event is over. Even if it looks abandoned. Even if others are doing it. Why? It breaks trust: clients and vendors notice everything It damages your reputation: one wrong move can blacklist you Leftover does NOT mean free: most items belong to vendors, decorators, or the client You represent the agency: your behaviour affects future bookings for everyone Take items ONLY when the client or supervisor gives clear permission. If you need something or you’re unsure, ask. Never assume.

When we engaged the vendor, she explained her rationale for the timing she communicated. According to her, the reason she gave an earlier call time was because many of her ushers often fail to arrive promptly. By instructing them to come earlier, she believed it would ensure their presence and give her enough time to replace anyone who did not show up. Her explanation was understandable and, to an extent, practical from her point of view. However, I asked if she understood what duty time truly means, and she admitted that she did not. This is where the challenge to effective service delivery becomes clear. Not understanding the concept of duty time creates several problems: Misalignment of Expectations: Duty time defines the official period an usher or staff member is meant to be actively working. When a vendor sets random arrival times without clarifying this distinction, it leads to confusion between reporting time and actual paid working hours. Staff Fatigue and Reduced Performance: If ushers arrive much earlier than their actual duty time without proper structure, they begin their work already tired, frustrated, or disengaged. This directly reduces the quality of service delivered to clients and guests. Operational Inefficiency: Inflated reporting times do not fix lateness; they only mask it. Instead of addressing punctuality through proper discipline, scheduling, and training, the system becomes built on compensating for poor behavior, leading to long-term inefficiency. Professionalism and Accountability Issues: A vendor who doesn’t understand duty time also cannot accurately communicate policies, track work hours, or hold staff accountable. This weakens the overall professionalism of the service they provide. Client Dissatisfaction: Ultimately, poor time management reflects in the performance of the team, delays in execution, and inconsistency in service standards, affecting the client experience. Be clear what reporting time is and what the duty time would be. This way you build a disciplined team whose characters are sustainable. Remember the term ‘African time’… It started exactly this way and now it is in the culture of an average guest.
