-English below- 2026年3月7日（土）、高松市美術館展示「トンビとウサギ、賑わいのとなりで」の最終日前日、満を持してusaginingenの3人でライブパフォーマンスを行いました。 美術館の大きな吹き抜け、その壁いっぱいに映像を広げた。あの空間でないとできない景色だったと思う。金沢から今回のキュレーターの金島さんが見届けに来てくれて、豊島からはチャーター便を組んでたくさんの友達が来てくれた。近くから遠くから足を運んでくれる人たちの存在が、そして公演が終わった後のみんなのキラキラした笑顔が、またステージに立ちたいと思わせてくれます。 また、パフォーマンスとは別の作品の竹ブランコに、島の子と高松の子が混ざって大はしゃぎしていた。美術館の中に、島の暮らしがそのまま持ち込まれ、それはまさに、「賑わいのとなり」にあるいつもの光景でした。 30日間の展示の中でたくさんの作品を並べ変化させてきたけれど、パフォーマンスにはやはり他の何とも替えのきかない唯一無二の強度がある。あの時間は美術館を劇場にしたよね。その事を、今日また自分たちの体で確認した。うれしいだけでなく、これからの大きな課題を突きつけられたような、そんな時間でした。作品一つ一つをパフォーマンスと同じ強度まで引き上げていくこと。それが次の私たちの挑戦です。 来てくれたすべての人、いつも応援してくれている皆さん、ありがとうございました。これからもusaginingen家族３人の活動を見届けてくれたら嬉しいです。 On March 7, 2026, the day before the final day of our exhibition "Sky and Earth, Beside the bustle" at Takamatsu City Museum of Art, the moment had finally come. We performed as a family of three. We projected visuals across the full height of the museum's large atrium wall. It was a view that could only exist in that space. Our curator Kaneshima came all the way from Kanazawa to be there, and many friends from Teshima organized a charter boat to make the trip. The people who take the time to come from near and far, and the sparkling smiles on everyone's faces after the show, they are what make us want to get back on stage. Elsewhere in the space, kids from Teshima and kids from Takamatsu were mixed together, laughing and playing on the bamboo swing, one of the works in the exhibition. The island's everyday life had found its way into the museum, and it felt like exactly the kind of scene that belongs "beside the bustle." Over 30 days we arranged and rearranged many works, but live performance has an intensity that nothing else can replace. We felt that in our bodies again today. It wasn't just a feeling of joy. It was also a confrontation with what lies ahead. Bringing each individual work up to the same intensity as a performance. That is our next challenge. At the artist talk on the second day, we tried to put into words what each work is, and what we want to test through this exhibition. Friends came from both Teshima and Takamatsu, and it felt like the thread we had been holding tight loosened a little. A good start. The theme this time is to place the gestures of everyday living that continue quietly beside the bustle, inside the institution of the museum. During the preparation period, we spent dense time with our curator Kaneshima, with our heads and bodies fully running. We repeated updates again and again, in questions, in understanding, in thinking. And with the same sense we have built through continuing live performance, we decided to treat the full 30 days of the exhibition period as one continuous act. We will share more about this, little by little. For now, this is our report that it has begun. If you are nearby, we would be happy if you drop in. -English below- 2025年、豊島ウサギニンゲン劇場。 国内外からたくさんの方にお越しいただき、素晴らしい出会いが数多くありました。ありがとうございました。 小学1年生になった息子も、学校が休みの日は出演し、今年は再訪の方も多く、「前回はお腹が大きかった時でした」「おんぶしてやっていましたよね」など、息子の成長も含めて、家族での制作活動を感じてもらえました。 2016年にオープンした豊島ウサギニンゲン劇場は、2026年は11年目！を迎えます。自分達のペースで劇場運営をすることで、暮らしと舞台の境界線が曖昧になり、日々の営みが舞台に上がり、舞台もまた日々の生活に溶け込む。とても稀有な経験をさせてもらってます。 冬の間はお休みしていますが、また暖かくなった頃に再開予定です。2026年もどうぞよろしくお願いいたします。 Teshima usaginingen Theater, 2025. We were fortunate to welcome many visitors from Japan and abroad, and to experience so many meaningful encounters. Thank you very much for being part of it. Our son, now in first grade, also joined the performances on days when school was off. With many returning visitors this year, we often heard comments like, “Last time you were still pregnant,” or “You used to carry him on your back.” Through these moments, people were able to witness not only his growth, but also our family’s ongoing creative life together. Opened in 2016, Teshima usaginingen Theater will reach its 11th year in the spring of 2026. By running the theater at our own pace, the boundary between daily life and the stage has gradually blurred. Everyday activities rise onto the stage, and the stage, in turn, blends back into daily life. It is a rare and precious experience for us. -English below- 2026/5/9「私たち」パフォーマンス・アート・ウォークby レジデンシーアーティスト Claudia Grimm × DARTS パフォーマンス中に通訳をしながら、イギリスやドイツにいた頃を思い出した。よくわからない表現に何度も出会い、「わからないものを、わからないまま楽しむ」感覚が自然になっていったあの頃。Claudia がつくった時間は、その感覚を呼び起こした。今年は海外に行かないと決めていたのに、またあの空気に触れたくて行きたくなった。参加者も、一緒に考えようとする空気をつくっていた。あの場そのものが作品になっていた気がする。 そもそも、ShinAiKan AIR を運営することは、自分にとって作品をつくることと同一です。外から来た異物を島の小さなコミュニティに混ぜ、彼らの表現を地域へ開き、変化を観察する。丁寧に続けたい活動です。 さらに、今回は「織田クラス（仮）」も初実験。元教師の織田君が「教職からは離れても教育現場には居たい」と話していたことを思い出し、アーティストのプレゼンと組み合わせてみた。教員歴21年の彼が、美術という未開の分野で先生と生徒の立場の間を行き来しながら場を動かす感じが面白い。これも続けて観察したい。 当初4月のアーティストは3組の予定だった。中東戦争の影響で2組がキャンセルに。飛行機を変更してでも来てくれた Claudia に感謝。次はスイスで会いましょう。 2026 May 9“Watashitachi” Performance Art Walk by residency artist Claudia Grimm × DARTS While interpreting, I kept thinking back to my years in the UK and Germany. Back then, I often encountered expressions I couldn’t understand, until “enjoying what you don’t understand” became natural. Claudia’s work brought that feeling back vividly. I had decided not to travel abroad this year, but now I want to again… The participants were not simply an audience. They created an atmosphere of thinking together, and the space itself became part of the work. For me, running ShinAiKan AIR is inseparable from creating art. Bringing outside visitors into the island community, opening their practice to the local, and observing what happens. I want to continue it carefully. This time we also tried a new experiment called “Oda Class (tentative).” Oda, a former teacher, once said, “I left teaching, but I still want to remain in educational spaces.” Pairing that with the artists’ presentations turned out to be fascinating. Originally, April had three artist bookings, but two were cancelled because of the war in the Middle East. Deep thanks to Claudia for changing flights and still coming. -English below- 豊島の劇場のすぐ隣に、約30年間放置されていた空き家と牛小屋があります。その場所をusaginingen Kunsthaus（ドイツ語で「芸術の家」）として動かし始めました。日々の暮らしと繋がっている実験や思考、そのプロセスをアートプラクティス(芸術実践)とし、作品として扱う場所です。 実は最初にこの場所を手に入れた時は、使い道が決まっていませんでした。正直に言うと、「守り」にも近い感情がありました。もしここが大きな資本や宿泊業者に渡って、日々の暮らしとかけ離れた完成した場所になってしまったら。。 ベルリンを経て豊島に移り住んで10年。2022年のドイツdocumenta fifteenで「lumbung（共同の米蔵）」という思想に触れ、先日、高松市美術館でのキュレーター・金島氏との展示を経て、 「usaginingenの表現は、暮らしと同じレベルで存在している。」という確信にたどり着きました。 先日、大工さんと一緒に、崩壊の恐れのあった牛小屋を自分たちで壊し終えたところです。 Next to our theater on Teshima, an old house and cowshed had stood untouched for nearly thirty years. We have begun opening that place as usaginingen Kunsthaus (a German phrase meaning “house of art”). It is a place where everyday experiments and thinking, the processes connected to daily life, are treated as art practice and as the work itself. When we first took on this place, we had no plan for it. To be honest, what moved us was something close to a need to guard. If it had passed into the hands of large capital or a lodging business and become a finished space cut off from daily life… Ten years have passed since we moved from Berlin to Teshima. At documenta fifteen in Germany in 2022, we encountered the idea of lumbung (the communal rice barn), and more recently, through an exhibition with curator Mr. Kaneshima at the Takamatsu Art Museum, we arrived at one conviction: “usaginingen’s expression exists on the same level as daily life.” A few days ago, together with a carpenter, we finished tearing down the cowshed by hand. #usaginingen #usaginingenKunsthaus #Teshima #Setouchi #kunsthaus #documentafifteen #artpractice

-English below- 3/14 瀬戸内 Merry Go Round Vol.2 開催報告 昨年の「vol.1」で生まれた、「人・島」を繋いで循環させるというコンセプト。今年はさらにその輪を広げ、「場所の記憶と歴史」をつなぐことをテーマに、vol.2を開催しました。 会場のShinAiKan（旧・神愛館）は、かつて約3,000人の子供たちが育った大切な場所。放っておけば廃墟化していったかもしれないこの建物への感謝と、ここを故郷とする方たちへの想いを込めて、今年は念願の「歴史資料室(まだまだ要修正ですが)」もお披露目することができました。 当日は、当時ここで働いていた方々やイエス団の関係者の皆さんも足を運んでくださり、今の子供たちが全力で笑い転げる姿を温かく見守ってくれました。 太鼓の音、餅をつく掛け声、工作、歌とダンス、植え付け、おじさんバンドそして夜の猪料理を囲む時間……。 過去の記憶と今が重なって、文字通り「メリーゴーランド」のように、時代を超えた光景がありました。 こどももおとなも本気で楽しみ共鳴する。この場所を廃墟にせず、歴史を大切にしながら、新しい遊びの場を創り続ける。挑戦は、これからもぐるぐると回っていきます！共にこの輪を回してくれたすべての仲間に、心から感謝しています。 3/14 Event Report: Setouchi Merry Go Round Vol. 2 Building on the concept from last year’s Vol. 1 of connecting people and the island, we hosted Vol. 2 with a focus on connecting the memories and history of this place. ShinAiKan (the former orphanage) is a precious building where approximately 3,000 children were once raised. Out of gratitude for this space, which might have otherwise fallen into ruin, and with deep respect for those who call it their home, we were finally able to unveil the Historical Archive Room (even though it is still a work in progress!). On the day of the event, we were honored to welcome former staff members and representatives from the Jesus dan organization. It was truly moving to see them warmly watching the children of today playing and laughing with all their might. The resonance of Taiko drums, the rhythmic chants of mochi pounding, songs and dances, planting, the old boys band, and the shared time over wild boar dishes in the evening... Past memories and the present moment overlapped, creating a scene that felt like a true Merry Go Round transcending time. Children and adults alike engaged with one heart, having fun to the fullest. Instead of letting this place become a ruin, we will continue our challenge to create a new playground while honoring its history. The wheel will keep on spinning! -English below- 2026年3月5日（木）、高松市美術館 展示「トンビとウサギ、賑わいのとなりで」の会期中に、内橋和久（演奏）× 平井絵美（ライブペインティング）のイベントを行いました。 絵美にとって初めてのライブペインティングは、コロナ禍にオンラインで内橋さんと試みたこと。時間が経ち、ついに対面でのパフォーマンスが実現。 当日になって、海凪が「自分も出たい」と言い出して参加することに。伸一は大好きな内橋さんの音を浴びているだけのつもりでいたのに、気づいたらお米おじさんとして登場していました。同じステージに立ちたい衝動を抑えきれなかった！ 内橋さんはusaginingenにとって、好きなミュージシャンを聞かれたら真っ先に名前を挙げる人。その音の中に家族3人で飛び込んだ40分間は、充実していて、ハラハラして、贅沢でした。 平日の昼間にも関わらず、地元の工芸高校の生徒さん、豊島からツアーを組んで来てくださった方々、たくさんの人に見ていただけて、とても嬉しかったです。 そして、今回の展示会の中でこのイベントをできて本当に良かったです。 March 5, 2026, Takamatsu City Museum of Art During our exhibition, we held a special event with Kazuyuki Uchihashi (live music) × Hirai Emi (live painting). For Emi, this was only her second live painting experience. The first time was during COVID, when she and Kazuyuki tried it together online. After all that time, they finally performed together in the same space. On the day of the event, our son Minagu suddenly said he wanted to join in, so he did. Shinichi was planning to just sit back and enjoy the music of one of his all-time favorite musicians. But he couldn't hold back, and before he knew it, he was on stage too as "Rice man" The 40 minutes with the whole family on stage were exciting, nerve-wracking, and truly special. Even on a weekday afternoon, so many people came to watch. Students from a local craft high school, and friends who organized a tour all the way from Teshima. We are so happy and grateful. -English below- 15年前、猫好きな美容室さんに頼まれて、仲良しのリョウヘイ @hasesandesuyo と一緒に作ったクリスマスカードです。今では、世界中の猫好きの方がクリスマスに使ってくれているみたいです。 ある年、海外の雑誌や知らない人のsnsのタイムラインに流れてきました。当時は、エミやリョウヘイの名前と一緒に広まってほしいと思って、焦ったのを覚えています。でも今は、誰かが喜んでくれていることに喜びを感じています。 🎄メリークリスマス🎄 みなさんが家族や友人と、あたたかい時間を過ごせますように。 Fifteen years ago, Emi made this Christmas card together with a close friend Ryohei, at the request of a cat-loving hair salon. Now, it seems that cat lovers all around the world are using it for Christmas. One year, it appeared on the timelines of overseas magazines and someone on social media. At the time, I remember feeling a bit anxious, hoping it would spread properly with Emi’s and Ryohei’s names attached. Now, though, I simply feel happy knowing that it brings joy to someone. 🎄 Merry Christmas 🎄 I hope you all spend a warm and gentle time with your family and friends.
