We’re so pleased to see this bird series recognized at the 2026 Louie Awards. For us, these cards are a celebration of observation, artistry and the joy of making something carefully by hand, but they also speak to something shared. Almost everyone has a bird story: a raven encountered on a walk, a hummingbird in the garden, a chickadee remembered from winter mornings. Birds have a way of belonging to all of us, quietly weaving themselves into daily life, memory, and place.
Thank you for following along and spending a little time with our chickadee, hummingbird, and raven. We couldn’t ask for better company. We are grateful for these spaces that allow us to connect with the community and share our passion for letterpress.

We love the tangible quality of letterpress, and that our stationery encourages real human connection. We don’t know anyone who doesn’t get excited to receive a letter or card in the mail. Meet the Louie Awards finalists from our Nature Birds Collection!
We’re so honoured that three of our Nature Bird Series greeting cards have been selected as finalists! This is a very lovely moment for a series that began with pencil, paper, and a genuine fondness for some backyard birds with very distinct personalities.
This series was designed to celebrate the defining character of each bird. The hummingbird with its vibrant flash and lively energy. The chickadee with its dear little roundness and alert charm. The raven with its intelligence, presence, and a certain knowing look that suggests it may already understand more than the rest of us.
Each illustration is paired with native flora to place the bird gently within its natural habitat. We wanted the cards to feel warm and full of life with a bit of personality quietly peeking through.
Printed in North America on beautiful recycled and FSC certified paper stocks using plant-based inks, this series reflects so much of what we value at Porchlight: craftsmanship, tactility, thoughtful design, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.

Full to the brim with intricate old printing presses, at first glance our studio might look more like a museum than a working studio. But it doesn’t feel like a museum – it’s a get-your-hands dirty, have-a-good-laugh kind of place, thanks to our passionate team.
This is where the magic happens. Each design begins by hand in the studio. The drawing stage is where the feeling of the card is developed with careful consideration of each birds' beautiful little details. Once the artwork is finalized, the colours are separated to their own plates. From there, ink is mixed and each card is printed by hand on our antique presses, one careful impression at a time.
Letterpress has a way of slowing everything down in the best possible sense. Ink density, pressure, registration and paper choice, each one matters. To preserve the intricacy of the artwork, we print with a great deal of care, balancing impression and ink so the fine lines in the feather patterns remain crisp and the illustrations keep their detail and depth.
Our studio includes a little retail storefront where you can pick up some cards for your people – or some treats for yourself!
