It's been 4 months since we have moved into the new place. On some days, it still feels pretty surreal that we now a space for a decent material library and to have home owners over for discussion. The journey here has been incredibly fulfilling and we are thankful for all the opportunities given. Never taking this for granted.

STUDIO 3.0 Third time working with @oursecondstudio and I think both the clients and myself will agree that this is the best set up thus far. Lots of partition modification works were done to the previous set just so that we can try to reuse as much as possible, without rebuilding too many new built ins to save time and also reduce cost. Milk tea limewash blended really nicely with @panaplast laminate creating a soft calming effect when the natural light comes through from the shoji panel.

This is a 4-room resale HDB flat in Sengkang. The homeowners wanted a home that is both colorful and functional, with a dishwasher being a must have in the kitchen. Although space was limited, we managed to carve out a corner to fit in that essential appliance. As they cook together quite often, the kitchen was also designed to comfortably accommodate two people at the same time. It has truly been a fun project working with M & J. Their personality is quite telling from the WhatsApp group picture they chose :)

There was a window at the corner of the master bedroom that provided access to the A/C ledge, where the air-conditioning compressor is located. This area turned out to be an ideal spot for a full length wardrobe. Ensuring that the homeowners could still access the compressor when needed, a wardrobe with sliding doors has been built. The doors can also be pushed fully to one side for a full view of the internal wardrobe space. Using modular and flexible shelving from IKEA also gives homeowners the freedom to adjust their wardrobe’s internal compartments as needed.

This 5-room HDB BTO flat is home to two artists with an extensive art collection. As the unit came with CCS (central cooling system), we couldn't change the placement of the air-conditioning blowers. In the living room, the aircon unit sat at an awkward corner, with multiple trunking bends that made the ceiling feel heavy and visually cluttered. To resolve this, a custom cabinet was built flush with the beam, effectively concealing the trunking and streamlining the overall look. A slim open shelving at the side of the cabinet was made to display the homeowners’ handmade pottery pieces, turning a previously problematic corner into a subtle yet meaningful feature.

This 5-room HDB BTO flat is home to two artists with an extensive art collection. They envisioned an entrance that would showcase one of their favorite pieces, a statement artwork displayed at the foyer to welcome them each time they step through the main door. To enhance both functionality and aesthetics, the original DB cabinet was removed. In its place, a custom extended shoe cabinet was built, seamlessly covering the previously awkward recessed area while providing additional storage.

STUDIO 4.0 Worked with @oursecondstudio on their latest set, and it's their warmest one yet. We retained some existing fixtures while refreshing the space with carefully curated loose furniture. One of the fixtures we chose to keep was the shoji panels and it was refreshed with a new laminate shade from @lamitak . As natural light filters through the shoji screens, it diffuses, casting a gentle, ambient glow across the studio.

This is a 3 room HDB BTO flat in Upper Aljunied. The wet area is demarcated by a newly erected half height wall (double up as shampoo holder) and shower curtain. More attention and focus was given to the master bathroom compared to the bathroom outside since they will be using it more often. V likes green, M likes orange and I think this was how we ended with this colour scheme. A summer shade of orange from @benjaminmooresingapore has been picked. The space ends up looking fun & also cozy at the same time. Continuity of the accent colour makes the space more coherent so we went ahead to drenched the ceiling in the same shade of orange. đź“·: @mirabellekoh @focal.col

This is a 3-room HDB BTO unit in Upper Aljunied. The master bedroom has been rebuilt due to feng shui reasons, so it's slightly bigger than the original layout. Rebuilding it means we're able to customize the space, ensuring a comfortable distance between the wardrobe and queen-sized bed, as well as fitting two side tables on either side of the bed. Since the wardrobe isn't built-in and has pole systems for shelving, the space is flexible and can adapt to the needs of the homeowners as they continue to live and grow in this flat.
