Good Morning! How have you been sleeping lately? Yeah, we thought so 😒 Today we dive into the different ways that #science has found to improve #sleep. Every single one of those is evidence-based and science-backed. Read on to learn more 👇🏻 💡 Light Your body’s circadian rhythm helps you stay awake and signalling when it’s #bedtime. In order to keep this rhythm #healthy, it’s important to be exposed to natural sunlight or bright light during the day. However, night time light can mess with your circadian rhythm. Blue light exposure is the harshest. Stay away from screens 2 hours prior to bedtime, use a blue light blocking app or wear blue #light blocking glasses. Nutrition 🥗 Studies show that #eating late at night may negatively affect not only your sleep quality but also the natural release of HGH and melatonin. Caffeine can significantly mess with your sleep quality. Alcohol will not only do that but also is more likely to cause sleep apnea and snoring, and reduce the release of HGH and melatonin which are key to good sleep. Posture 🕺🏻 While sleeping on your #back is better than #sleeping on your stomach, it may cause sleep apnea. Try to sleep on your left side, which allows your heart to easily pump blood throughout your body. Bad posture during the day will lead to more fatigue and influence respiration which may worsen your ability to fall asleep and to stay asleep. Exercise 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏽🏃🏻‍♂️ In people with severe #insomnia, exercise was more beneficial than most drugs, reducing time to fall asleep by 55%,night wakefulness by 30%, anxiety by 15% - and increasing sleep time by 18%. However, exercising too late in the day can make it harder to fall asleep, due to its stimulatory effect. Room 🏡 Factors that may affect your ability to get a good night’s sleep include temperature, noise, external lights, and furniture arrangement. Make sure your bedroom is a quiet, relaxing, clean, and enjoyable place. Mindset 👤 Finally, it’s not just common sense, but also science telling you to take time to switch off from the day’s hassle and relax before going to sleep. Whether it is meditation, a good book or a hot bath.

Let this resonate… 🙌 But if you actually have heavy objects to move around, here are some tips on how to do so without compromising your back health 😅 ✅ Keep a wide base of support. Your feet should be shoulder-width apart, with one foot slightly ahead of the other (think karate). ✅ Squat down, bending at the hips and knees only. If necessary - put one knee to the floor and your other knee in front of you, bent at a right angle (a half kneeling position). ✅ Keep good posture (UPRIGHT will definitely help you out here). Look straight ahead, and keep your back straight, your chest out, and your shoulders back. This helps keep your upper back straight while having a slight arch in your lower back. ✅ Slowly lift by straightening your hips and knees (not your back). Keep your back straight, and don't twist as you lift. ✅ Hold the load as close to your body as possible, at belly button level. ✅ Use your feet to change direction, taking small steps. ✅ Lead with your hips as you change direction. Keep your shoulders in line with your hips as you move. ✅ Set down your load carefully, squatting with the knees and hips only. #posture #posturecorrection

A smile a day keeps the drama away. Really though. Did you know that when you smile, your brain releases tiny molecules called neuropeptides that help fight off stress? Then other neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin and endorphins come into play too. The endorphins act as a mild pain reliever, whereas the serotonin is an antidepressant. When you feel good about yourself, smiling becomes more spontaneous, and a benefit-driven cycle is born. Just like smiling, moving around the day in proper body alignment has a direct impact on mood and confidence, enhancing your general health & wellbeing. So, try this for a couple of days and let us know how you feel. #posture #posturecorrection

Good posture = Improved mood 🙌 Not only can good posture boost your energy levels and reduce your pain, it can also boost your self-esteem and improve your mood. A 2009 study, conducted in Ohio State University, concluded that good posture gives you more confidence in your own thoughts 🤔 Your posture affects your mood. Think of how someone looks when they’re depressed – slouched and slumped with shoulders that hunch and a head that hangs. When you’re feeling relaxed and happy - you naturally find an #upright, open posture. If you're feeling a bit down - stand up, roll your shoulders back, and lift your chin.

Did you know that posture has a direct effect on your mood, self-esteem and general well-being? The first step is awareness. Then, you must prioritize having good posture so you can add training into your daily routine. Lastly, make sure to do the most so you can start seeing actual results as soon as possible. For example, incorporate Yoga in the mornings, stretch breaks during the day and a visit to the chiropractor every once in a while for routine checkups. Oh, and don’t forget to track your daily posture habits with you know what.
