Introducing Living Layers, a speculative exploration of vertical farming as a bioreceptive, symbiotic, self-sustaining ecosystem, co-designed by nature.
Developed in collaboration with
@laszlo.cseresznyes and
@upfarming.pt , the project proposes a system of vertical structures nurturing both food and biodiversity in urban environments. Their geometry, generated by an algorithm that combines computational design with the very needs of the plants that inhabit them, is meant to attract different life forms and passively distribute water.
The first prototype of Living Layers, 3D printed by
@sirolis.pt , is currently on view at
@base_milano , as part of Milan Design Week 2026. Starting today and until the end of the week, you can visit the exhibition in Via Tortona 54 (Room 2100) from 10h30 to 20h00.
