COMING SOON! F&MAD Film Festival!!! May 2, 6pm, FMAB Cinema
The F&MAD Film Fest is a juried screening of human-made films and media arts projects created by advanced undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Film & Media Arts at the University of Utah. The festival showcases projects developed within the department’s curriculum, including narrative, documentary, hybrid, and experimental forms of lens-based media and animation. At its core, the event celebrates artist-driven work grounded in authorship, collaboration, and filmmaking practice, highlighting projects created by emerging filmmakers as they develop their creative voices.
The festival also serves as a celebration of the creativity and dedication of students working in film and media arts at the University of Utah. Presented in a professional screening environment, the program gives filmmakers the opportunity to share their work with an audience and experience their films as part of a curated public event.

Returning after hiatus, the "F&MAD Film Fest" premieres in the new cinema, modeled on professional festival practices and designed as a real-world launchpad for student filmmakers.
The film program will draw heavily from the reprofessionalized Capstone course led by Miriam and Sonia Albert-Sobrino (@alsosisters ), alongside submissions from across the @uofufandmad student body.

When the world stood still on 9/11, an unexpected resilience unfolded in a remote Canadian town. Come From Away, a powerful and uplifting musical based on true events, tells the story of 38 diverted flights carrying nearly 7,000 passengers who found themselves stranded in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland. Undaunted by logistics and language barriers, the people of Gander welcomed the stranded travelers into their community with open arms, recognizing that we’re all part of a global family.
