Our MUI alumni career highlights continue with Devan Bhardwaj, MUI Class of 2024. Since graduating from the program, Devan worked at a commercial real estate consulting firm, before joining the Ontario Public Service as a Municipal Advisor for the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
Devan notes that specific skills gained from MUI such as conducting jurisdictional and environmental scans, and delivering presentations are consistently used in his career. Additionally, the experiential elements of the program positioned him to work with stakeholders in a professional context.
His advice for current and future students:
“Continue leveraging the connections you make in MUI, whether that be fellow students, professors, or industry professionals. Last Thursday, the MUI Class of 2027 partook in the 6th annual Case Competition in partnership with the Toronto Region Board of Trade.
This year’s challenge was to create a Destination Strategy for Toronto’s Waterfront. Students offered exciting and creative ideas including an agri-food innovation corridor, revitalizing the nighttime economy, connecting transit systems, implementing mini Toronto-themed art print machines, extending the Path, and the winning idea of creating a world-class sports district at the waterfront.
Congratulations to the winning team of Arissa Daby and Dounia El Kojok!
A huge thank you our partners at the TRBOT and MUI instructors Gabriel Eidelman, Damian Dupuy, Yinnon Geva, and Kristina Verner for their guidance with the projects.
Also, it was a full circle moment as our first ever MUI Case Competition winner and alum, Anjuli Perera, joined the judging panel, representing Waterfront Toronto!
The day served as a great reminder of all that MUI represents: interdisciplinary connections, real-world problems, and innovative solutions to help make our cities vibrant, better places to live.

Last week was a big one for our 2nd-year students.
They wrapped up their final Capstone projects, a year-long, consulting-style experience where they partnered with industry, tackled real-world challenges, and brought their research and recommendations to life. Presenting their findings to peers, faculty, and partners was no small feat, and they absolutely delivered.
Bravo to all of you! Thank you to our industry partners for your mentorship and collaboration.
Next stop: convocation 🎓

Last week, our second-year students wrapped up their final professional development session of the program, and it was a fun one!
We were lucky to have 10 industry professionals join us to run mock interviews, share feedback, and give students practical advice. Each student had the chance to complete 2–3 interviews, which made for an engaging experience.
A great way to end the PD schedule and a strong start as our students head into their full-time job search.
Thank you to all our students and partners!
