Congratulations to our very own Dr. Caitlin Frawley! ~ 💚
She was recently selected for this year's Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling (ACAC) Outstanding Counselor Educator Award! This award is given to counselor educators who go above and beyond in their roles to benefit child and adolescent mental health. Dr. Jaimie Haugen of William & Mary School of Education commends her dedication, stating, "She consistently goes above and beyond, whether it’s opening doors for new professional opportunities, providing thoughtful mentorship, or advocating for their growth and development. Her commitment is genuine, and it clearly makes a meaningful impact." Wondering what an MEd in Higher Education can do for you? Hear from alum Mari Goldstein, who found her path in UNT's MEd Cohort in Student Afffairs:
The program has helped me to cnosider different perspectives and ideas that differ from my own experience in undergrad and grad school. As someone who works with grad students, I was able to do my own research during the program to determine their needs. The program also helped me recognize the importance of collaboration and new ideas.
The deadline to apply for the MEd in Higher Education, Cohort in Student Affairs is February 1.

Meet alumni of UNT - Vanessa Bautista🎓! She recieved her Bachelors degree in 📚Education in 2022 and is currently is a 3rd Grade Billingual Teacher and Grade Level Lead at Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary School!
Q: How has your education at UNT helped in your career?
A: My education at UNT equipped me with the tools and experiences needed to become a successful teacher. Not only did my classes prepare me to teach Language Arts, but my personal experiences at UNT have also helped me to inspire my students to want to go to college.
Q: Did you participate in OPT after graduation?
A: Yes, thanks to my OPT I was able to teach in Dallas ISD for a year. I taught 8th grade one semester and 5th grade the second semester. I had the pleasure of teaching both English and Spanish Language Arts at Title I campuses.
Q: Are there any professors or staff that helped you during your time at UNT?
A: I want to give a huge shoutout to Dr. Paiva, Dr. Wickstrom, Dr. Hancock, Dr. Harris, and Dr. Larson from the College of Education for being fantastic mentors and for helping me learn about the educational system in Texas. Big thanks to Dr. Coffelt and Dr. Peters from the Department of English for being wonderful literature professors and for always setting high expectations. And most importantly, thanks to the staff at International Affairs for being my home away from home and for opening the doors to have amazing opportunities and meeting the best of people. In particular, thanks to Yunju, Nicole, Pieter, Tiara, Mei, Joe, Lauren, Jamal, and Gordon for always going above and beyond and for being so welcoming. My experience at UNT wouldn’t have been the same without any of you!
Q: Is there anything else you would like to add?
A: I am forever grateful for all the support I got from UNT during the three and a half year I was a student. In my classroom, I have a college wall that is full of pictures I took from different events at UNT to remind my students that getting a college degree is achievable! Many of my kids have told me that they too want to go to UNT. Go Mean Green!
