In 2028, our publisher decided to bring it back down to the roots. We used to publish just two books a month, which is still a feat. In the past couiple of years, we've taken on more than that because we had so many authors we love needing a home. 2025-2027 are big because there are BIG FUCKING voices to be heard. And then, after that, we will resume our smaller catalog. 2028 will feature some new voices and a bit of an echo back to our best authors. So...if you are new to us, or been with us for years, we're looking for you (maybe you are in our inbox right now!). Don't wait. We'll be tying a bow on that by the end of May. If you haven't submitted and want to, please go here: /writer-guidelines #publishing #unsolicitedpress

This May, we are not interested in the softer versions of our lives we tell to keep us, and them, safe. We are interested in the cost to be made. Our team hand-selected six books that will take you on journeys filled with joy, rage, and sorrow. Each book adds a thread to the quilt, and by the end of the month, collectively sets it on fire. If you want dark humor, big tears, and brazen honesty, welcome. You'll do just fine here. Here are the books we've chosen: MOTHER! / @thegirlsinthewoods Cleah’s Bequest / @marimatthias_author Night Hag / @amybaskinwrites Mosaic / @lauragaddiswriter You May Feel a Bit of Pressure / @amygalloryan The Ballad of Two Sisters / @darcischummer Kissing the World Goodbye / @jenniferclarkbooks Start anywhere. Build the conversation with us. #may2026 #mothersday #booksbywomen #unsolicitedpress #survival #bodypositivity #infertility #pregnncy #sisters #recipes #family #publishing

Twinhood isn’t always tenderness. In fact, sometimes it’s gravity, and obsessions…a reflection you cannot run from no matter how hard you try. Parted Gods by Alfredo Félix-Díaz asks what happens when love becomes myth—and myth becomes danger. Women are expected to absorb everything gracefully. From the emotional labor to the politics that govern our bodies....all while smiling and staying "pleasant to be around." Well, honestly, fuck that. MOTHER! has no interest in protecting that fantasy, and neither does Unsolicited Press. Tonight, join Summer Stewart with Amy Baskin and Elisa Carlsen for a virtual reading and conversation on motherhood, otherness, embodiment, labor, religion, desire, survival, class, and the strange performance women are forced into just to remain legible to the world around them. This is not a soft-focus motherhood event. Nobody is showing up to sell you curated resilience or beige domestic enlightenment. We are interested in the body as a site of work, memory, expectation, exhaustion, pleasure, resentment, hunger, and becoming. We are interested in the cost of being useful for too long. Thursday, May 14 6 PM PST / 7 PM MST Free + open to the public Zoom: https://csupueblo.zoom.us/j/92761376436 @asterism_books #books #reading #women #poetry #booksbywomen

Not everything in you is meant to be controlled. Some things are instinct and others are driven by hunger. And then there is that piece of you that births through the cracks, unable to stay contained. Tell us, what moves you?

MORE great news today. WONDERLAND: Memoir of a Black-Market Adoption has also been named a Next Generation Indie Book Award Finalist. I am so honored and grateful. So excited to share the happy news. Feeling so thankful and blessed - so many in my community helped me make this book shine. Couldn’t have done it without those who beta read, gave writerly advice and helped with cover and naming. This book publishes November 3rd from @unsolicitedp . #Memoir #Wonderland #adopteevoices join the launch list via Direct Me link in bio. #adoptee

We’re celebrating the release of No One Dreams in Color by John Biscello with an evening built for the work itself: a reading that leans into the edges, a conversation that doesn’t smooth anything over, and a live performance by Heather Masse of The Wailin’ Jennys that understands how to hold both beauty and ache in the same breath. This is a novel about perception, distortion, and the stories we tell ourselves to survive. Come hear it out loud. Come sit in it with us. Wednesday, May 27 at 6 p.m. Encore Gallery at the Taos Center for the Arts Free and open to all @johnbiscello @taoscenterforthearts

Join us tomorrow night at 6 pm PST / 7 pm PST for this special literary event celebrating the release of MOTHER! by Summer Stewart, which is a genre-defying collection of poetry and essays that interrogates what it means to be made—and remade—as a woman, dismantling the idea that identity is self-determined, revealing instead how it is shaped through expectation, silence, and survival. This virtual event is FREE & OPEN to the public, and you can join here: https://csupueblo.zoom.us/j/92761376436
