Here at Universal Recognition we most often speak to folks who are enthusiastic about accessibility but just aren’t sure where on earth to start. We can help with those initial steps. Our work will increase your confidence in tackling accessibility and inclusion with your teams. You can hire us for our UR range of accessibility improvement services for projects, consultations, speaking events, training and workshops. This is a bespoke, high end, paid commission service only. We do not accept speculative or voluntary projects. We do however work with all sectors be they private, public or voluntary - this is right for you no matter your service. Our services are dependant on availability. Please DM us if accessibility is an area you are keen to improve and develop but you are unsure where to start. In the meantime you can also follow us here for bite sized hot accessibility tips. Our ‘Let’s Do This’ highlight and posts are all about small actions you can take to start improving your mindset and knowledge. Together we can: 1. Offer Disabled professionals and service users the recognition they deserve. 2. Up your skill level so you too can recognise excellent accessibility opportunities that will benefit everyone. Simple. Comment ‘Let’s do this!’ below if you would like a link to our current accessibility tips sent direct to your inbox. Image description: A digital illustration. Two purple hands on a black background hold the phrase ‘Let’s Do This’ in the centre of the image. Dotted white lines burst out in all directions from the hands. Surrounding these lines and the hands are differing abstract shapes in differing colours. Some look like sound icons, others thought clouds, others look wobbly and stretchy. They make the image look alive and vibrant as a result of what the hands are doing. #Accessibility #Disability #DisabledPeople #ChangeMakers #Wellbeing #ProfessionalDevelopment #EquityAndInclusion #SocialChange #WellbeingEconomics #Economics #Sustainability #Respect #SelfImprovement

Liberation Library This month’s members’ meet-up topic. Friday 13th February 6:30pm online. An evening where we will start to create a library of accessible community resources. These resources will aid us in our mission imagining and building fairer futures fit for all. Description: A graphic with the afore mentioned text. A group of people some in wheelchairs, wrapped in blankets or using mobility aids make up a circle. They are joined together by integrated lines of connection. The space around them is filled with floating symbols. The symbols are abstract but could represent the following: leaves, a thought cloud, a diagram book, audio-waves, a free flowing stream, a slow paced snail shell, a telescope, hands gesturing and a sticky seed. #FutureLibrary #Library #Accessible #AccessibleLibrary #UniversalRecognition

What a night! We had a fantastic evening last weekend at @universalrecognitionsatellite with ‘Vision in the Dark’. The event was Glasgow’s first event for shaping flourishing futures even in dark times - hosted and curated by our blind artists @jamesmacdougallart @rosswilcockmedia , Conor Joseph and Roy Watson. The event was open to all folks exploring fairer futures during tricky times. We had a fantastic turn out with folks from all walks of life, specialisms and levels of influence attending. Thank you to everyone who came down. You made the event what it was - joyful, courageous and beautiful. Thank you also for the fab turn out from @visibilityscotland and @creative_dundee who brought such a bright spark to the room. We wanted folks without any connection with Disability to be able to benefit from the event, wisdom guides and presentations. From the feedback we received we can say this was an absolute success! Thank you to our fabulous artists and facilitators @brandnewsomewhereagain @_max.phillips for guiding people so brilliantly through their own challenges and ideas for fairer futures. After such positive feedback how could we not plan more of these evenings in the coming year both online and in-person. If you wish you had been in the room with us or are curious to know more pop a ‘brightest spark’ below alongside any questions you might have. Reel: Photos of our event at the beautiful @thesocialhub.glasgow Our artists host interactive art pieces and workshop activities around round tables adorned in tactile art, creative materials and wisdom cards. Blind creatives and designers give panel talks and demonstrations at the top of the room hosted by @rebeccaleestudio Folks taking part listen attentively and delight in the activities. The spacious room includes lush natural planting and natural window light. The room is a hubbub of creativity and conversation as folks shape pathways towards brighter tomorrows.
