Solar Bee Garden Tea Zen REMIX Lam Wong & Peter Courtemanche (Absolute Value of Noise) May 30 - August 15, 2026 Opening May 30, 1-4pm Solar Bee Garden Tea Zen REMIX is a site-responsive, multi-media collaboration between longtime friends. Among their highly varied interests and distinct practices, Peter and Lam share a dedication to tea — its cultivation, preparation, offering, and ingestion — as a medium and contemplative methodology. Moving between gallery and garden, the exhibition draws on Zen Buddhist tea ceremony, analogue audio/visual experimentation, and garden-centred practice as modes of relational and ecological inquiry. This marks Wong and Courtemanche’s first formal collaboration, a meeting of two very distinct artistic languages held together by philosophical kinship and the patient time and texture of the garden. We are also pleased to announce that T’uy’t’tanat-Cease Wyss & Senaqwila Wyss will be joining us to facilitate an iteration of their ReciprociTea project — more details to come. A slate of special events will be also be scheduled over the summer, including Zen Buddhist tea ceremony, a film screening, an artist talk, and a special performance featuring sound artist Anna Friz. Dates to follow in a separate announcement. We look forward to celebrating summer with you! #UnitPitt #VancouverArt #ContemporaryArt #soundart #artistruncentre [Image ID: Exhibition poster. Soft-focus photograph of green garden foliage as the background, overlaid with a subtle crosshatch texture. Centred italic serif text in dark green reads title and names of artists. Funder logos appear at the bottom.]

Navel of the Möbius:::Experiments in Continuous Deformation Organized by @nondual_citizen - April 24, May 2 & 10 - 2954 West 4th Ave - Doors at 7:30 PM - Music 8-10PM - $20 Join us and witness pairs of collaborators enter into a ‘sonic topological space,’ whose limits, continuity and connectivity emerge and morph through the contingent interplay of the performers’ shared signals and take shape by way of attuned listening and response. Each person in a duo will have part of their sound sources fed into the other’s setup such that the setups generate their own responses to the signals. From the non-random but non-measurable sound that emerges, the gear becomes somewhat of a third collaborator (or... the Möbius’ navel), guiding the listening and response of improvisers through its own twisted structure of continuous deformation. Featuring performances by: Kaila Bhullar & Rafael Zen, Alfred jarry, The Goh Ensemble (Samira Banihashemi & Jack Blanco), Stefan Smulovitz & Chris Kelly, Matty Harris & Frederick Brummer, and Sense Organ. Get your tickets via 🔗link in bio 🔗. A portion of the proceeds goes directly to the performing artists. UNIT/PITT MEMBERS GET DISCOUNTS! Register for annual membership to receive a discount code. Community Partnership + GIVEAWAY 🎟✨ UNIT/PITT is pleased to be a Community Partner for the presentation of the following @doxafestival screenings. More info + tickets at doxafestival.ca ----- Bella Sutra | Opening Gala screening Directed by OK Pedersen 42 min | Canada | 2025 April 30, 7:00 PM @ SFU - Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre With Live performance by: OK Pedersen (narration) Eden Glasman (violin) Jakub Tokarczyk (piano) A live cinematic performance, Bella Sutra explores the complex relationships between humans and the non-human world. Filmed on hand-processed 16mm in Bella Coola, the work combines humour, live narration and a musical ensemble to reflect on life in a remote mountain village Pedersen’s essayistic approach meditates on community and the tension between rural and urban perspectives, offering a deeply personal yet resonant portrait of human connection. This screening features a live score, immersing audiences in the rhythms of Pedersen’s cinematic world. ----- Partition / تقسیم | Screening Directed by Diana Allan 61 minutes | Canada, Lebanon, Palestine | 2025 May 2nd, 2:00 PM @ The Cinematheque May 3rd, 6:00 PM @ The Cinematheque Partition fuses archival footage from the British occupation of Palestine with audio recorded of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, tracing lines of continuity left by seismic displacement. Silent films gathered in imperial collections hold histories that have barely been told, and ways of colonial seeing that seep into the present; Partition uses dialectical montage and asynchronous sound to examine both. Recovering Palestinian presence through story, voice and song, unraveling colonial pasts through soundscapes of the precarious present, Partition is a meditation on what bodies remember and empires forget. ----- We're giving away 2 tickets to the May 2nd, 2PM screening of Partition / تقسیم!!! 🎟️ How to enter: - Follow @doxafestival & @unitpitt - Tag your friends in the comments! (one tag = one entry) One winner will receive 2 tickets to the May 2nd screening of Partition / تقسیم. The winner will be contacted via Instagram DM. Giveaway closes Monday, April 27 at 11:59 PM PDT. Good luck 🍀

Last night in Vancouver, Lebanon was not just remembered, it was felt. 🇱🇧 Through stories, faces, and voices, #LebanonCinemaDays brought us together for something bigger than film. It was about standing for one another, carrying each other, and reminding the world that Lebanon is more than headlines: it is people, culture, and resilience. Thank you to everyone who showed up, and supported.

This year we're pleased to welcome Alex Calcagno ( @nondual_citizen ) as our Winter SFU practicum student, with us from January to April 2026. Alex is completing their MFA through the SFU School of Contemporary Art, and is assisting with gallery operations and programming. Bio: Alex is an interdisciplinary artist with a focus in sound and book arts. Currently, their work looks at/listens to the realm of night as a complex system of hidden information, weird ecologies and ambiguous wisdumb (and its risk of erasure). They are an experimental musician whose projects can be found in the link in their Instagram bio. They play noise shows as Vibraphenomenology from time to time. Alex can be reached at [email protected] 🧩 [Image ID: Alex placing a microphone into the water at New Brighton beach, with the Iron Workers bridge and mountains in the background. Alex is in the foreground; they are a white person with long black hair, tattoos, wearing a navy blue jacket and headphones, recording audio onto an cassette tape field recorder.]
