Presenting ‘UNITED BY SOUND’! Created by Sanjay Pandya, Prem Shah & Patrick Dennis Winding our way through the labyrinth passageways of a Rio Favela samba sounds echoing around us; experiencing the rock n roll rebirth and fierce determination of the people of Detroit; playing the Borindo with the children of the Swat Valley in Pakistan; the excitement of an exploding techno powered Berlin arts scene or the meeting of Israeli and Palestinian musicians right on the contested border. Dangerous, exciting, entertaining and possibly life-changing. Creating a song with diverse collaborators brings tension and conflict, mirroring societal divisions. Yet, through ego and passion, we fight, work, and play to achieve a shared goal: a song, a spark, a story. And beyond the studio, as we get to know each other’s communities, we discover that despite our differences, we are all UNITED BY SOUND I present the first viewing of our proof of concept, filmed in my hometown of San Diego, with friends, heroes, strangers and rivals scrambling to meet, write and record a new song together in only one day (instead of the still-short 3 days the show is planning to shoot once we are in production.). We’re months away from launching the first version of the new Wharfechild Art House after years of planning, and I would personally love for you all to come join us, see if what we are doing vibes with you and become a part of the tribe. It’s all still forming, and will evolve a lot over the next 12 months. It’s an idea. A big idea that I’ve had bubbling for nearly 2 decades. It’s inspired by the same ideas that continues to spark @unitedbysound , and by the very reasons I started playing music to begin with. Community. Collaboration. Exploration. Expression. [LINK IN BIO] It’s more than an art house. More than a record label that we are building. More than a place to share art, music and the written word. It’s about the conversation that happens when you collaborate. And the result. Joyful. Heavy. Exploratory. Confrontational. Soft. Vulnerable. Questioning. Experimental. It’s really all just an excuse to collaborate and have conversations between friends and communities, sharing stories about art, life and vision. It won’t always be easy conversation. There will certainly be strong opinions and strong artistic statements scattered in there. We are excited about the art, music and conversation that we are preparing and the huge potential for building community together. We’ve got great music and art already stacked up and many more great artists that don’t even know they’re on our hit list to come join us and collaborate. We hope you all will come be a part of it.
