Proud to celebrate the completion of the Caledonia Affordable Housing Project 🎉
From proposal in March 2020—right at the start of the pandemic—to construction beginning in March 2022 and completion in December 2025, this project is a true testament to resilience and teamwork.
Located in Victoria’s Fernwood neighbourhood, the development delivers 158 affordable homes across a five-building complex on 2.15 acres, including apartments and townhomes designed for families, seniors, and individuals with diverse accessibility needs. The project features 1,450 m² of amenity space, a total of 12,360 m² gross floor area, and a parkade with 112 vehicle stalls and 194 bicycle spaces, supporting both community living and sustainable transportation.
Delivered in partnership with Capital Region Housing Corporation and BC Housing through the Community Housing Fund, this project represents a meaningful step forward in building inclusive communities.

On March 13th, the ICBA Apprenticeship Team hosted the annual Red Seal graduation event in Burnaby, BC. This dinner event recognizes the dedication and hard work of ICBA-sponsored apprentices who have successfully completed their programs over the past year.
We are happy to share that our very own employee, Isaac Schellenberg, was in attendance, joined by our General Superintendent, Chris Dunaway, to celebrate this well-earned achievement together. This incredible accomplishment reflects your commitment to your trade.

💫We are proud to announce that we have recently wrapped up another extensive seismic upgrade for the Richmond School District.
Construction started in Spring 2024 and have completed the final phase of work last month.
The project scope of work was originally limited to (1) placing and finishing portable classrooms for sufficient swing space, (2) part of the school being seismically upgraded with subsequent finishing resulting from that structural work, (3) a parking lot upgrade, and (4) a full window replacement via separate funding. However, through the diligent work of our team on site and in the office, we were able to incorporate several additional ‘optional’ upgrades throughout the remainder of the school. A few upgrades of note include a complete and extensive roof replacement, additional washroom renovations, and further parking lot improvements. We were also able to renovate the remainder of the school, providing new flooring, ceilings, lighting, wall finishes, and lockers throughout.

Another two completed modular classroom additions supporting growing communities in the Richmond School District.
The R.C. Talmey Elementary School received a 6 classroom and 1 bathroom addition, and the Tomsett Elementary School received a 9 classroom and 1 bathroom addition. These modular additions are built for durability, efficiency, and ready to serve students and educators for years to come.

This month, we’re excited to spotlight Brody, a Site Superintendent at one of our Langley, BC projects. Brody has been part of the Unitech team since 2012, and we’re incredibly proud to have spent the last 14 years growing alongside him.
A few words from Brody on his career journey:
“Unitech has always encouraged me to take the next step in my career. They supported me through specialized training in PPE and safe work procedures, as well as my carpentry apprenticeship. After completing the program, Unitech also sponsored management courses to prepare me for a Project Superintendent role. My favourite part about my job is learning something new every day. No two days are alike, and because we are a construction manager, the sites are always changing."
