Some things to do on this contemporary Charvel. The bridge pickup was flipped when it arrived and was out of phase with the neck which solved the customer’s issue of it sounding a little thin. We also removed the tone pot pushed the volume pot back and added a kill switch. Mini switch is to drop a coil and go from humbucker to single coil. Setup, with a much needed nut slot adjustment. Good friend Will Stratton inspired me to find more Yamaha FG’s to do more R&D on. Bought this first year Taiwanese made all ply/mahogany neck FG110 for a neck reset/refret. With weather patterns becoming increasingly harsh, the ply bodies (that are still structurally sound) will see a longer shelf life. Setup and new bridge on this 60’s es-335. Was going to opt for a Callaham but they stopped producing the abr-1 bridge, so we went with the Faber equivalent. Excellent sustain and durability. 70’s (?) Hofner Super Beatle Bass in for a setup and some touch ups on the wiring. These came with an active pickup circuit (“sound mix”) that sounds simply amazing. 1960’s Harmony Hollywood in for a neck reset, fret level and a number of crack repairs (headstock and body). It was a treat to take this apart ten years after to see the mistakes I made ten years previous on my very first neck reset/refret. This guitar was given to me when I bought a Silvertone Kentucky Blue to practice neck resets on. James from The Guitar Store on Aurora in Seattle. 1960’s Roy Smeck Archtop complete with P13 pickup. This is bone stock except the bridge and capacitor. Came to me with a completely caved top and in need of some serious work. Neck reset/refret (medium highest)/Benedetto Bridge/Cleaned Electronics/Setup with Daddario 10’s w/ wound g. Feather light with the special P13 “time tested ‘Tone-Emphasizer’ pickup” as the Harmony catalog put it.
