I’ve always been interested in the way two opposing truths can be held simultaneously, how they can both contradict and support each other. How our perspective is fluid and ever changing. How something or someone can be both masculine and feminine. How the potential for great hate can’t exist without the potential for great love. Even the process of getting a tattoo, one on the spine nonetheless, can be both terribly painful and surprisingly meditative. The endlessly dialectic nature of life fascinates me. It liberates me. When I saw @pop_pyfloor ‘s art I knew she was the right person to help me design this tattoo I’ve been dreaming up for years. Her work beautifully captures the light and the dark, fine delicate lines bordered with edgy spirals. Pretty flowers growing amidst winding vines. I’m in such awe of this representation of fluidity that will live with me forever. Getting this piece of art etched onto my body is the best way I can think of to commemorate a year in which I’ve finally embraced the endless love and liberation that can be found in the in-between 🌺 (and back tats are just super sexy so there’s also that 😉)
