⭐️ CALL FOR ARTISTS ⭐️
Underscore Projects and Do West Fest are seeking local artists to create a temporary art installation for this year’s Do West Fest - a vibrant, community-driven celebration in Toronto, Canada, now in its 13th year. We’re also excited to be apart of the jury board and can’t wait to see your submissions!
We invite proposals from individual artists and collectives working across all mediums. The selected work will activate the Community Stage, a hub dedicated to showcasing local musical talent. We’re looking for work that transforms the stage into a dynamic visual experience.
Proposals will be evaluated based on creativity, feasibility, and alignment with the festival’s community focus. Interactive and audience-engaging works are encouraged, with careful consideration for the stage’s continuous programming schedule and quick transitions between performances.
The installation should reflect the diversity, energy, and spirit of the festival and its surrounding community, while complementing a live performance setting.
Budget: $5,000 CAD (inclusive of artist fee, materials, and installation costs)
Application Deadline: May 15, 2026 (11:59 PM)

We’re pleased to announce the opening of Repetition & Rupture, the first solo exhibition by Klara Vanzella Yang, curated by Paola Poletto.
Working across painting and textile, Yang explores the tension between familiarity and disruption through pattern, repetition, and transformation. Her work reflects an ongoing negotiation between structure and instability, where geometric systems are stretched, distorted, and reconfigured.

About the Artist
Klara Vanzella Yang (@kvystudio ) is a visual artist and designer whose work explores the tension between stability and disruption. After studying Architecture at the University of Toronto, Yang shifted toward smaller-scale practices in product and graphic design, developing an increasingly intuitive engagement with form, structure, and visual communication.
Alongside her practice, a sustained interest in human behaviour and perception led her to return to academia for a second degree in Psychology. This continued study informs her ongoing interest in cognition, attention, and the ways meaning is constructed through repetition, pattern, and experience.
Art you can bring home🌹🌹
.
So in light of my recent painting renessance
.
I am now at a crossroads of what to do moving forward
.
My options are the following:
.
No. 1: Make Prints and launch an online store (which lets be honest, I should’ve done a long time ago) and sell just the prints
.
No. 2: Sell just the originals, which to me makes the best sense in trying to preserve exclusivity and the originality of my paintings
(but the I’d lose my painting😭😭)
.
No. 3: Do both, make prints available for the masses and make the original available to those who truly want a one of a kind work of art🤔🤔
.
.
So I ask you all for your input and help, which option makes sense?
Which option to you find YOURSELF in?
Are you a prints person or an 1-of-1 kind of collector?

Era uma vez uma menina que dormia…
e, enquanto dormia, sonhava.
Sonhava com histórias, com música, com movimento…com um mundo onde a imaginação ganha vida.
E, de repente… abriu os olhos, e a história estava viva.
Vem com a gente ✨
We partnered with @mangue.studio for a beautiful workshop centered on our connection to water- emotionally and physically. Through conversation, memories, movement, and collective art-making, we explored what it means to see our bodies as water and to reconnect with the waterways around us.
This was a chance to slow down, share in community, and reimagine these spaces as places to play, gather, and belong 💧thanks for everyone who showed up and were open to connect, to feel and create! It was such a beautiful experience! 🩵🌊
Special thanks to @underscoreprojects for the amazing and welcoming space!
Spaces that hold stories.
From the Little Portugal neighbourhood to Underscore Projects, our studio members, and our gallery space - every corner is part of something evolving.
We’re always open to new ideas - don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Join us for a creative workshop by Studio Mangue @mangue.studio exploring our affective relationship with bodies of water through conversation, movement, and collective artistic expression. 🌊
We live in a city whose name carries a deep connection to water - yet urban design has created a rupture in how we experience it.
This gathering opens space for reflection, shared dialogue, and creative exploration. Together, we’ll move, converse, and create, including a guided artistic activity in collaboration with DrawingTO (@by.drawingto ).
