in 1979, the philadelphia fox became the first pro women’s basketball team to play in the city + and they only lasted for ten short games. i will be the first to say that ‘girls will shoot hoops’ only tells a small part of the story (the women who played on the fox were hall-of-fame players in their schools and went on to become doctors, coaches, CEOs, and mothers) but im glad i could share a small piece of their history + i hope it leaves you optimistic about the growth of women’s sports.
as soon as i heard about the team, i knew it was a story I wanted to tell + it took me down a year-long rabbit-hole / research project where i tracked down the players and the front office (through some questionable methods). it’s always such a scary + exciting feeling to release a new project into the world, but thank you to everyone who came out and supported my first zine launch !! + to @anothercorner_co for always being the best collaborators
you can procure a copy at the link in bio or in store at @anothercorner_co
