The Gleam. My fourth and final short film. Big big thanks to Filmfonds, AFK and Underscore for helping bring this into the world. And to the incredible cast and crew who went far beyond what was asked, carrying the film with so much care. Especially Jonas. You remind me of Rutger Hauer. There’s something enchanting and honest in your presence, that makes it impossible to look away the moment the camera starts rolling. As for the film itself… I could say a lot. But everything I want to say and everything I am as a filmmaker is in there. So I won’t kill it with words. Ook wil ik hier, in mijn moedertaal, zeggen hoe blij en trots ik ben op de Nederlandse film. Ik heb de afgelopen jaren zoveel goede films uit ons kleine landje zien komen en het maakt mij hoopvol en blij. We zijn het aan het doen. Op alle vlakken.
