UNDERCOVER archive pieces for The Costume Institute’s fashion exhibit, “Costume Art” at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The Costume Institute’s spring 2026 exhibition explores depictions of the dressed body across The Met’s vast collection, pairing garments with artworks to reveal the inherent relationship between clothing and the body.
Focusing primarily on Western art from prehistory to the present, Costume Art presents connections between garments from The Costume Institute and objects from the Museum’s other collecting areas. Pairings between fashions and artworks will present a spectrum of connections and experiences: from the formal to the conceptual, the aesthetic to the political, the individual to the universal, the illustrative to the symbolic, and the playful to the profound. These pairings are organized into a series of thematic body types that reflect their pervasiveness and endurance through time and cultures.

衣装とアート作品を組み合わせて展示することで、衣服と身体の本質的な関係性を浮かび上がらせる内容となっています。
本展では、主に先史時代から現代に至るまでの西洋美術に焦点を当て、
Costume Institute所蔵の衣服と、美術館内の他部門コレクションに属する作品との関連性を提示しています。
ファッションとアート作品のペアリングは、
フォーマルからコンセプチュアル、
美学的なものから政治的なもの、
個人的なものから普遍的なもの、
写実的なものから象徴的なもの、
そして遊び心あるものから深遠なものまで、
幅広い関係性や体験を表現しています。
これらの組み合わせは、時代や文化を超えて繰り返し現れる身体表現の普遍性と持続性を反映した、複数のテーマ別ボディタイプとして構成されています。

本作は、1990年代初頭の連載「LAST ORGY 2」から着想を得ており、同連載はデザイナー高橋盾との活動として広く知られています。
カラーリングにはセイルとロイヤルブルーを採用し、NIGO®と高橋盾が手がけたブティック「NOWHERE」の象徴的なサインカラーを反映しております。
The Nike x NIGO LO2 Air Force 1 and apparel collection will launch on May 2 at UNDERCOVER Aoyama.
This collection draws inspiration from “LAST ORGY 2,” a serialized feature from the early 1990s that is widely recognized as a collaboration between NIGO and designer Jun Takahashi.
The colorway incorporates sail and royal blue, reflecting the iconic signature colors of “NOWHERE,” the boutique created by them.
