What may look just a ring of bubbles from the surface is actually a perfectly choreographed routine designed to capture as much prey as possible. 🐋
Very few humpback whale individuals have been observed to participate in cooperative “bubble-net” feeding, and exclusively in Southeast Alaska. Even wilder, new evidence suggests that this is a learned behavior- meaning whales are passing down this knowledge to others. It’s both a fine-tuned survival strategy and a display of teamwork that’s unforgettable to witness. @_trevor.thomas
Have you ever kayaked alongside humpback whales? What about bushwhacked through ancient rainforests?

Alaskan summer is a bit wetter than your typical summer weather, which makes it tricky to pack for. If you’re setting sail this season, save this post to refer back to while you prepare and go to our website for more packing tips!
Don’t forget:
Warm base layers: Bring clothing that layers easily so that you can add or remove layers as conditions change throughout the day. We recommend moisture wicking fabrics such as wool and polyester. Merino wool hiking socks will also help keep your feet comfortable.
Waterproof outer layers: Excursions happen rain or shine! A heavy-duty, waterproof rain jacket and rain pants with waterproof, taped seams (made of Gore-Tex, Pertex, or a similar waterproof fabric) are highly recommended.
Dry-bag: If you plan on bringing items with you while kayaking, we recommend a dry-bag so they don’t get wet.
Hat and gloves: Bonus points if they’re water resistant!
Sunglasses and SPF: Don't underestimate the UV! SPF lip balm is great for bonus protection.
Camera gear: If you like photographing wildlife, a large zoom lens will help capture the action.
Bathing suit: If you plan on doing the polar plunge, make sure to bring your bathing suit! Some vessels also have hot tubs onboard.
We'll provide:
All Adventure Gear: Don’t worry about traveling with large gear like paddle boards, kayaks, or hiking poles. We provide it all!
Rubber boots: We have women's size 5 up to a men's size 12 boots available on board to borrow. We recommend bringing an extra pair of wool socks and a pair of insoles to assist in comfort/fit. If you fall outside of that size range or just want guarantee the perfect fit, we recommend bringing your own pair.
Reusable water bottles: All guests can borrow a reusable water bottle to take on excursions.
Binoculars: Each cabin has a pair of binoculars to take with you on excursions, and there are additional available in common areas.
Sunblock and Bug Spray: Our vessels will have some available to use so you’re never left unprepared.
Food and Drinks: All meals and drinks are included in your cruise fare (and they’re delicious)! No need to pack your own food unless you have a trail snack that you absolutely can’t live without.

Do you know what it means for a ship to be U.S.-flagged?
It means our ships are registered in the United States and held to strict U.S. safety and labor regulations, including annual inspections by the U.S. Coast Guard. That means higher safety standards, U.S.-based crew, and fair wages.
It also means more freedom for your itinerary. We are not required to make foreign port stops, so your time is spent exploring Alaska, rather than leaving from Vancouver and open ocean cruising for days. In Hawaii, we offer a true inter-island experience, unlike foreign-flagged ships that must detour internationally.
Foreign-flagged vessels, often called “flags of convenience,” operate under more lenient safety regulations. By sailing with UnCruise, you support local jobs, stronger safety standards, and a more meaningful connection to the places you explore.
Our first guests of the season got to see a side of Alaska that most visitors don’t. April in the Last Frontier means the last remnants of snow and the early season sunshine are coexisting. On lucky days like this, we get to trade our rubber boots for snowshoes, stop mid-hike to toss snowballs, and enjoy the serene landscape before peak season hits. Have you explored Southeast Alaska in April? If so, share a highlight of your trip! Spring is a special time of year in the Southeast and we'd love to hear about your favorite moments.
Good news! Our Baja Mexico itineraries just got even better.🌵
We’re thrilled to announce that an additional night has been added to each route of our Baja sailings! Now, each trip will start with an included pre-cruise hotel night at the charming Tropicana Hotel in San Jose del Cabo. Spend the day exploring the historic town, enjoying the local art, and sampling the cuisine before the included transfer takes you across the peninsula to the seaside town of La Paz. From there, you’ll board the 66-guest Safari Voyager and set sail for the adventure of a lifetime through the Sea of Cortez.
