Undergraduate Spotlight: Our CSD Brunching the Gap event, held on March 19, 2026, centered on fostering connectedness within our department and providing meaningful resources to support undergraduate students pursuing careers in speech-language pathology and audiology. Approximately 50 undergraduate CSD students, along with graduate students, faculty, staff, and community professionals, participated in an engaging morning of conversation, community-building, and professional growth. Stroke can affect more than mobility—it may also impact speech, language, cognition, and swallowing. Early support from a speech-language pathologist can make a meaningful difference in recovery!
CSD participated in UNCG’s Spring Major’s Fair on April 25, 2026. CSD students, junior Leah Griffith, and senior Corah Wilkerson, along with Assistant Professor and Clinical Educator Sarah Hopkins, enjoyed talking with prospective students and their families about the careers of speech-language pathology and audiology. Leah and Corah shared valuable insight from a students’ perspective, about both the CSD undergraduate and graduate programs. Sarah Hopkins provided additional information about the structure of our CSD programs and highlighted the vast opportunities SLPs, and audiologists have in supporting children and adults with communication challenges.
It’s National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, celebrating all the ways that people communicate and the SLPs and audiologists who help them find their voice. This year’s theme, “Access Changes Everything,” reminds us that when we break down barriers to communication, we open doors to education, employment, and community.
Congratulations to the following CSD Students who were selected as 2026 HHS Outstanding Graduating Students:
