Caveat that this is ALL PERSONAL PREFERENCE OKAY and I still use Procreate in a lot of my creative practice (especially with making stencils for tattoos - I’ll do another reel on this sometime!) but over the last year or so I’ve pivoted to doing most of my designs in Adobe Fresco, and here’s why: ✨ It’s free! - given Adobe’s penchant for milking the subscription model I was quite surprised that they offer a software this comprehensive free of charge. IIRC there’s the option to pay for extra storage and intergrated Adobe fonts, but unlike a lot of Freemium software out there the base free model is ad-free and unabridged in itself (I do think Procreate’s one-off payment is an absolute bargain though, and well worth the £13) (and also if they ever try to stealth charge for Fresco in future I’ll be hopping straight back to Procreate for everything because I’m cheap x) ✨ Intuitive brush UI - again, another pro for Procreate (lol) is that the capacity for customising brushes is near endless, and for full colour digital painting I feel like they definitely take the W. However I’m a simple creature and I like using the pencil brush for absolutely everything - being able to adjust the flow, smoothing, opacity and size on one brush straight from the interface really improves my workflow and for me personally I feel like my finished pieces look a lot more natural and hand-drawn as a result. ✨ Vector integration! - if you’re a graphic artist and want to produce scalable work, the vector brushes on this app are really accessible. No lag and as natural feeling as the raster brushes - I remember trying to do vector images on Illustrator years ago and wanting to hit myself in the face with a hammer so this is a very cool feature (although I’m not a vector artist and I just use it to map out hair and filigree) this isn’t an ad btw, I’m actually not a fan of Adobe’s quite aggressive subscription model and haven’t used any of their paid software since they made that switch. I’ve just had a few people DM/comment asking what I use for my designs, so I thought I’d do a more comprehensive review of why I use the tools I do 🔪 #adobefr
