Physics researcher and hockey goalie Graham Burke ’26 is proving that academic ambition and athletic excellence can go hand in hand. By day, he conducts research in quantum computing; by night, he guards the net for the UMass Dartmouth men’s hockey team.

Integrative biology PhD student Eman Khwaja '26 always knew she wanted to be a marine biologist. Now, she’s inspiring millions of others to learn more about STEM while completing her doctoral research on whales. Thanks to her National Science Foundation Fellowship, Khwaja can gather data in Boston Harbor and share her knowledge via social media.

During her first year, Antonella Goncalves ‘26 faced an injury that she feared would disrupt her college career. Despite the challenges, Goncalves' journey to recovery inspired her Honors senior research project and prepared her for life as a professional nurse.

A first-generation college student, Sam Riley '26 has spent the last four and a half years turning doubt into direction — in the classroom, through the University's College Now program, at internships across the SouthCoast's growing blue economy, and in the digital marketing business he's building from the ground up.
