✨ Ulman Foundation 101 ✨
If you’re new here, welcome! If you’ve found us because cancer has touched your life, we’re really glad you’re here. 💙
Ulman Foundation was founded in 1997 by Doug Ulman and his mother, Diana, after Doug was diagnosed with cancer as a young adult. Built from lived experience, Ulman was created to address how isolating this journey can be and how critical support and resources are during this time.
At Ulman Foundation, we support Adolescent and Young Adults (AYAs), ages 15–39, impacted by cancer, an often overlooked group navigating treatment during one of the most financially and emotionally vulnerable times of their lives. These are students, new professionals, young parents, and individuals thinking about fertility, careers, and their future, all while facing a cancer diagnosis. Through free programs like patient navigation, support groups, survivorship programs, and Ulman House, our free home away from home in Baltimore, we work to ease burdens and create community when it’s needed most.
Everything we do is made possible by the people who show up for this community.
Whether you’re here because you need support right now, want to help someone else, or are simply learning more, you don’t have to do this alone. 💛
Please DM us to learn how we can support you or how you can support young adults in your community impacted by cancer!

🧠 You may not know...
An estimated 13,474 new cases of primary brain tumors will be diagnosed in adolescent and young adult patients in 2026.
Here are a few realities of brain cancer that people don’t always talk about:
💛 Brain cancer can affect much more than physical health. Depending on the tumor location, someone may experience memory issues, personality changes, trouble concentrating, or shifts in mood. This can look like forgetting conversations, struggling to find words, or simply not feeling like themselves anymore.
💙 Many symptoms are invisible to others. Someone may “look fine” while navigating memory loss, headaches, sensory changes, or emotional exhaustion every single day.
💛 Independence can change quickly. Things like driving, cooking, working, or even walking alone may suddenly require extra support or supervision.
💙 Survivorship doesn’t mean life returns to normal once treatment ends. Fatigue, anxiety, cognitive changes and neurological effects can persist for years after finishing treatment.
But another reality is this: no one should have to navigate cancer alone.
Ulman Foundation and Keep Punching are here to provide patient navigation, support, resources, and community for young adults impacted by cancer. While life may change after diagnosis, our support doesn’t. We’re here for you and your loved ones through every stage of the journey. 💙

What happens after cancer treatment ends? For many young adult survivors, the answer is complicated.
Meet Mike. In his story, he reflects on the invisible weight of survivorship and the lasting emotional impact that can follow long after diagnosis. It’s a reality that so many young adults impacted by cancer quietly carry while trying to rebuild a version of “normal” life again.
But within that reality is also perspective, connection, and a deeper appreciation for the ordinary moments many people take for granted.
Mike’s story is personal, but it’s also deeply universal. Today, there are nearly 2.1 million cancer survivors in the U.S., many navigating the emotional and mental impact of survivorship long after treatment ends. 🎗
💙 Your gift can help young adult survivors access the support, connection, and community they need to continue moving forward. If you’re ready to make a lasting impact, visit the link in our bio. And stay tuned in the coming days to hear more of Mike’s journey and the ways Ulman Foundation helped him find purpose through connection.
Coming out of an incredible weekend at CancerCon in Seattle, we’re feeling especially grateful for the AYA community and the ongoing impact of @thematthewzachary and @stupidcancer 🎗
We recently had the chance to welcome Matthew to Ulman House for coffee and conversation where we reflected on the shared history and alignment between our work and the broader movement to better support young adults impacted by cancer. It was a meaningful reminder of how far this community has come, and how much further we can go when mission-driven work continues to evolve and connect overtime.
With their support and so many others in this space, we’ve continued to see the AYA cancer support landscape grow and strengthen over the past several decades, and we’re deeply grateful for the role they’ve each played in building spaces for advocacy and resources. 🌎
If you want to hear more from Matthew and his experience, be sure to check out his new book that releases May 19th! 📚
Yah...We’ve got a better place we can take this… 👀

What an incredible weekend we had in Seattle at CancerCon 2026 ✈️🎗️
Thank you to everyone who showed up, moved with us, and made this weekend what it was. Our fun run, led by our very own Jules G and inspired by our Cancer to 5K program, was our LARGEST group yet, and we’re so grateful to everyone who came out to connect, run, walk, and share in that moment of movement together!🏃♂️
And to everyone who joined Taylor’s session on Saturday, thank you for being part of that conversation. Your engagement helped shape a powerful dialogue on breaking down silos in the AYA cancer space and how we can better collaborate across professionals to create real impact.
💛 We’re leaving feeling inspired and full of new ideas, with an even deeper understanding of how we can continue to show up for this community in meaningful ways here at Ulman.
Thank you to @stupidcancer for creating a space that makes all of this possible. We can’t wait for next year!
