We were proud to celebrate our international students at the International Student Farewell Reception and Mixer.
The afternoon recognized the achievements, leadership, and friendships these students have brought to the Ragin’ Cajun community during their time at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. As they begin their next chapters around the world, we look forward to welcoming them into our alumni family and staying connected through the global Ragin’ Cajun network.
This event was hosted by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni Association and the International Alumni Network and in collaboration with the Office of Global Engagement and Lafayette Consolidated Government.
Congratulations to Abbey Poirier, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Overall Outstanding Graduate for the Spring 2026 semester!
Each semester, academic colleges nominate graduating students who exemplify excellence in leadership, scholarship, and service. Finalists are then interviewed by a committee from the Alumni Association, which selects one student to receive the university’s highest graduating student honor.
We are also proud to recognize this semester’s Outstanding Graduate finalists:
• Torin Cage — College of Nursing & Health Sciences
• Alexandra Chistoserdov — Ray P. Authement College of Sciences
• MiaAnn Oliva Elmer — University College

Today, we celebrate the people who show up when it matters most — and the power behind what they do. On National Nurses Day, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette recognizes the students, faculty, alumni and partners of our College of Nursing and Health Sciences who embody this year’s theme: “The Power of Nursing.”
That power is evident across our program.
A 97% NCLEX-RN pass rate.
A 100% Family Nurse Practitioner pass rate.
More than 2,000 students enrolled, with continued growth.
A National League for Nursing Center of Excellence designation.
One of only two nursing simulation programs in Louisiana accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
It’s seen in opportunity, too — from an accelerated BSN completed in 15 months through our partnership with Ochsner, to specialized programs like Cancer Registry Management, and advanced degrees that prepare nurses to lead at every level of care.
From the first day in the classroom to the first day on the floor, our nurses are prepared not just to meet the moment, but to lead it. And more than 90 percent of our graduates stay in Louisiana, strengthening the health of the communities they serve.
The impact is real. The work is demanding. The difference is undeniable.
Today, we say thank you — for the knowledge, the compassion and the commitment that define the Power of Nursing.
