This man lost his right leg in a landmine accident while protecting Ukraine in 2019. He learned to walk so well on his prosthetic leg that when the full scale invasion occurred in 2022, Vladyslav “Shatya” Shatilo returned to the army to defend his country without telling anyone he was missing a leg. Remarkably, no one noticed.
In 2025, he climbed Kilimanjaro. Currently, he’s on a two-week break from his military service and is dedicating this time to raise money and awareness for the Ukrainian Army through the documentary “Second Wind” about his Kilimanjaro climb.
I had the honour of buying him lunch today at Don'ya Ukraine’s Kitchen, alongside Ukrainian actor, Oleksandr Pedan and KAZKA Entertainment’s Vadym. They have raised $20,000 on this tour, and I’d like to help them raise another $20,000 before Vlad returns to his duty. If you can assist, please donate in store at DON’YA or send us a message.
