March 18 marks the Day of Remembrance of the Genocide of the Crimean Tatar people.
On this day, in 1944, the Soviet regime launched one of the darkest crimes — the mass deportation of an entire indigenous nation from its homeland. In a matter of hours, families were torn from their homes and sent into exile, where thousands would die from hunger, disease, and brutal conditions.
Today, Russia is once again bringing terror, displacement, and repression to Crimea. Recognizing the 1944 deportation as genocide is not only about justice for the past. It is about preventing these crimes from being repeated in the future.
Will your country be next to recognize the Crimean Tatar genocide?
