RIP Chun Woo my favorite tripod dog, a gentle, well mannered, rare and regal pure bred sapsaree adopted from a South Korean rescue when he was around 5 years old. Blessed to have seven years with him. His final resting place was at the foot of my bed. Thank you to those who loved him. He inspired me every day.
@losangelesathleticclub inspired by the Wooden Awards. Photo 1: UConn Asst Coach Jamelle Elliott and UConn phenom Wooden award winner Sarah Strong, Photo 2: Wooden award finalist Michigan’s Yaxel Lendeborg refereeing Special Olympics team on the historic Wooden Court, Photo 3: Wooden award winner Duke’s Cameron Boozer and Sarah Strong with Wooden Finalist BYU’s AJ Dybansta coaching Special Olympics team players Ray with the mohawk (my fave who LOVES and MISSES Coach Wooden) and his teammate. Last photo: Me with fellow LAAC Board member Wells who is on the organizing committee. Epilogue - I won ALL my tough tennis games after being inspired by these amazing people and the spirit of my club. This year’s Wooden coach from Perdue shared with me “Don’t let them steal your joy from the game bc people will try and invade it.” Kind wisdom. Try to go next year!
Thank you to @ricaleon for inviting me to experience Chinese NY and the most amazing 8 course NY meal and cocktails by @runklerue and her family. This will most definitely be a tradition going forward! Join me in the future because there is nothing like putting a red envelope into the dragon’s mouth for good luck and hearing the blast of fireworks kick the bad juju from the previous year to the past. Thaks to Janet Strauss / @rememberthatstudios for the video. Gong Xi Fa Cai / Gong hei fat choy !!
Tea ceremony has been a latent interest of mine for years. After a visit to Taipei and learning about gaiwan, i am now obsessed. It is a grounding moment. It is mindful, elegant, and a calm hour with your loved ones and friends old and new. You connect with each other with your sense of taste and smell, curiousity, sharing your experience in community. Ping me to join.
Thanks to my friend Jeannie who invited me on a special boat tour of the City of LA’s port in San Pedro, which with Port of Long Beach, is the 9th biggest port globally (after many ports in Asia) and the biggest port in America. What an engineering feat of organization, efficiency, and sustainability. Our biggest import is ….drum roll…furniture-
while our biggest export is plastics for recycling. It was so huge and surreal- like a detailed and complex life size lego model- I kept imagining Godzilla having a battle with Mothra in this epic port.
