My photo monograph, “Memory Care,” is officially available!

This project documents my journey confronting the personal fear of dementia—of losing one’s memory—through a year of photographing my grandmother, Sophie Felix, who was diagnosed in 2005. I’m thankful for the moments I was able to capture, the discovery of archival photos, and the new relationship I was able to foster with her.
Forgetting can be scary to the ones who remember, so be sure to care for your memories.

I’ve been creating more work centered on the lived experience of memory loss since publishing my book Memory Care in 2025, dedicated to my Grandma Sophie who was living with dementia. It brought me so much joy and healing to visit with her and photograph her… Last month’s visit was with Alma and Arminda. Alma’s mother Arminda has FTD (Frontotemporal Degeneration) Alma shared so much information on the different types of Dementia, signs to look out for, her own experience on caregiving for her mother, and plenty of resources @mom_has_dementia for those on a similar journey with a family member.
