We are using Clean Sport Week to raise awareness of the risks of Image and Performance Enhancing Drugs, including SARMs (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators). There is a healthier, safer way to better performance. One that is built through hard work, dedication and craft, not bought with substances that sellers may claim to offer 'quick wins'. We spoke with the Bello brothers about the risks that come with these substances and why you shouldn't believe everything you see on social media about them. Listen to people you trust, talk to your coaches and your family and make informed decisions when it comes to your training and health. #CleanSportWeek

For Clean Sport Week we surveyed young people (16-25 year olds) and parents about the misinformation they maybe exposed to online about Image and Performance Enhancing Drugs, such as SARMs (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators). The results were concerning. If any athlete or support personnel has concerns relating to SARMs, please check UKAD’s new Factsheet on SARMs, which is now on our website. To find out more about the survey findings, visit our news webpage πŸ’»

Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs) are a class of Image and Performance Enhancing Drugs (IPEDs), and are prohibited in sport. There is a large amount of dangerous and misleading information online about SARMs. Not one SARM has been approved by any medical agencies for human use, with safety cited as one of the concerns surrounding these products. That is why we will be using Clean Sport Week 2026 (11-17 May) to highlight the harms of SARMs, amongst other IPEDs, and encourage athletes to consider the harmful reality behind these products that get pushed so frequently online.

"You're not going to know the long term consequences of these things"πŸ’ British judoka, Summer Shaw's advice to athletes and young people is so important - you don't know the long term consequences of taking performance enhancing drugs, or supplements that aren't tested, so take a food first approach and know that your success is entirely your own πŸ’― #CleanSportWeek

πŸ‘†πŸ’ Max Litchfield of @loughborough_pc spoke with us about his views on the misinformation social media can spread. Don't trust everything you see online, there can be long term consequences of taking IPEDs or supplements that promise big results quickly. Do you research and talk to the people you trust. It's not worth the risk. #CleanSportWeek

When we spoke with UKAD Athlete Commission member, Andrew Heyes, he emphasised the importance of having conversations with athletes about the pressures they may be facing. We encourage all support personnel, coaches and parents to have open dialogue with athletes or aspiring athletes, about the devastating impacts performance enhancing drugs can have. #CleanSportWeek @andrewrheyes

We spoke with Goldie Sayers about her experience of losing out on her podium medal moment because of someone doping. Doping not only risks an individual's career and health, but it harms sport for generations to come. If you think someone is doping, report it in confidence.
