“You need something that separates you.” That’s the advice @mralanroy , coach and founder of @tsunajiujitsu , would give to anyone opening their first academy. In a competitive market, success doesn’t come from copying what already exists. It comes from building a concept people genuinely connect with. When your academy has a clear identity, everything else becomes easier.

This is one of those details that changed my passing game 🥋 A lot of people think progress comes from learning more techniques. But in my experience, the biggest improvements come from repeating the small details until they become automatic. That’s how you build timing. And timing is what makes techniques work in real matches. Consistency matters too. I use @ujitsu.app to stay organized, find the right training partners, and make sure I never miss a session. 📲 Download Ujitsu and stay on track! 📲 Baixe o Ujitsu e continue evoluindo!

The nicest people you’ll ever meet… until the timer starts 🥋 One second it’s fist bumps and “let’s have a good roll.” The next, they’re trying to take your head off. Nothing personal. Just Jiu-Jitsu. 📲 Find your favorite training partners on Ujitsu!

🥋 Move of the Week: Lapel Half Guard Sweep Effective self-defense requires maintaining control even when you are pinned in a bottom position. Using the lapel allows you to create strong leverage and neutralize an opponent’s weight from the half guard. This week, our featured black belts show you how to use a lapel grip behind the shoulder to break down an opponent’s posture. The tutorial covers how to center your legs and lock a tight triangle before using a shoulder bridge to create an opening. You will see how to kick your leg behind their back and lock your grip onto your own leg to sweep the opponent and finish in the mount. We hope this addition to your arsenal helps you stay calm under pressure and develop a more dangerous half guard game. 📲 Want more technique breakdowns? Download the Ujitsu app and never miss a new Move of the Week.

Your gi becomes more than just something you train in. Over time, it carries the memories of hard rounds, competitions, setbacks, and progress. It becomes part of your identity on the mats. While most athletes gravitate toward the biggest names, some brands have built a following by doing things differently. Primit, VHTS, and Kutter are three hidden gems we chose to highlight, but they are far from the only ones. Each brings a distinct point of view to modern gi design through artistry, clean aesthetics, and thoughtful craftsmanship. They remind us that in Jiu-Jitsu, performance and personal expression can go hand in hand. Which one matches your style? Have you trained in any of these brands? Or is there a hidden gem we should know about? Drop it in the comments 👇

The best conversations in Jiu-Jitsu usually start with one simple question. “What’s your favorite submission?” And from there, things get interesting… 😅🥋 We asked athletes at our Open Mat to share their favorite techniques, the moves they’d remove, and who they think is the most dangerous person in the room. Now we’re asking you. 👇 Drop your answers in the comments. 📲 Find your community on Ujitsu!

Respeite o processo. Encontre o seu ritmo. Continue conectado com a Ujitsu 💚🥋 Discipline is the only shortcut. Daniel’s @daniel220v.poncio day is a reminder of what it actually takes. No excuses, no distractions. Just the relentless repetition of school and the mats. When “everything happens again,” that’s where most people quit, but it’s also where the elite are made. If you want to reach that level, stop looking for a secret and start building a routine you can stick to every day. Success is not a one-time moment. It’s a decision repeated over and over again. Respect the grind. Find your rhythm. Stay connected with Ujitsu 💚🥋
