As we continue through May, we'd like to highlight a recent exhibit and event! Animating Hope: Izaak and Bertie Cohen’s Puppet Theater features puppets, personal papers, and ephemera from during and after World War II. The items on view provide historical context and underscore how perilous life was for Dutch Jews during this period. The exhibit was curated by Rebecca J.W. Jefferson (Curator of the Isser and Rae Price Library of Judaica, Smathers Libraries) and designed by Katiana BaguĂ© (Exhibits Associate, Smathers Libraries) and Lourdes SantamarĂa-Wheeler (Exhibits Director, Smathers Libraries).

It’s that time of year again! We’re so proud of our amazing students who work in the libraries daily. For this year’s installment of “Humans of the Libraries,” we photographed six students who are involved with the Libraries system. Congrats, Gator graduates; your work is appreciated every day. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!

On Mar. 31, 2026, the Libraries celebrated the legacy of Professor Michael Gannon—a distinguished scholar, educator, and advocate for academic excellence. This year, we welcomed best-selling author, three-time Pulitzer Prize winner, and former Washington Post journalist, Rick Atkinson, as the 2026 Michael Gannon lecturer. Mr. Atkinson’s talk focused on World War II and his acclaimed series, the Liberation Trilogy. We are so glad that so many people turned out for this wonderful event, and a huge thank you to Mr. Atkinson for sharing his knowledge with us!
