Been sitting with thoughts of type not being passive.
One where it doesn’t just carry meaning but perceives it.
One where it sees.
This has led me to exploring “Anya” (currently a working title cos “Looku Looku” is also a contender lol); a font where letterforms have eyes. And uses them.
Still a work in progress 👁️

TOUKI GROTESK V.1! 🟡
Named after the Wolof word for “journey,” Touki Grotesk is a contemporary grotesque sans inspired by the typographic language of early post-colonial Africa.
In that era, the Latin script, though foreign in origin, was reinterpreted through local practices, materials, and cultural expression. The result was bold, improvised, and distinctly African.
Touki Grotesk doesn’t just imitate that history.
It extends it.
V.1 includes 14 styles and supports 820+ Latin-based languages.
