UDC Law proudly celebrates the groundbreaking scholarship and leadership of Professor Yvette N.A. Pappoe, whose latest work is helping shape one of the most urgent conversations at the intersection of law, technology, civil rights, and economic justice. As co-author of the newly released report AI in the Racial Wealth Gap, alongside researchers Nadiyah J. Humber and Darlis Pantoja-Benavides, Professor Pappoe examines how artificial intelligence systems are influencing housing, lending, and employment decisions and how these technologies could either deepen or dismantle systemic inequities in America. This cutting-edge research challenges the legal profession, policymakers, and technology leaders to confront the real-world consequences of algorithmic bias and to build stronger safeguards, transparency, and accountability into AI-driven systems. The report highlights the growing need for civil-rights-centered governance as AI rapidly transforms the legal and economic landscape. Professor Pappoe’s scholarship reflects the mission of UDC Law: advancing justice, equity, and systemic change through bold legal thought and public impact. This important collaboration is helping shape the future of legal advocacy in the digital age and positioning UDC Law at the forefront of conversations redefining fairness, accountability, and equity in technology and society.
