Happy Earth Week! Eco Transportation is the way to go - your small steps have made a difference for our Earth!
Imagine if every student of the 20,000 on campus drove a Toyota Camry to campus. That’s 3,240,000 sqft of parking spaces needed and amounts to 92,000 lbs of CO2 per day. UCSC Students are saving thousands of pounds of CO2 emissions every day by choosing sustainable transportation methods like biking, walking, carpooling, and taking the bus!
Buses help by seating 32 people comfortably. The same 32 people driving alone would equate to 147lbs of C02! (Plus, no need to find and pay for a park to risk any personal damages)
Walking on this beautiful campus is both great for our planet’s health and our own. Getting outside to catch some healthy vitamin D-filled sun rays is greatly beneficial for mental, emotional, psychological, and overall well-being.
Biking is faster than walking, and fun-filled cardio with all the great views...and with ebikes, you can take the UCSC hills a bit easier. They’re super eco-friendly, and Slug Bike Life has a ton of resources to help with bike management and connecting with others!
Carpooling and vanpooling are better for the environment - they reduce emissions by an average of 40 LBs of C02 every month per rider. Save a little of everything, gas, parking payments, space, and get a little more joy.
What’s your favorite sustainable way to travel our Earth?
The Risk and Safety Services Fair is next week! Join us at the Baskin Courtyard on April 14th from 11:30am-2pm to meet RSS units and community partners to learn about services and ask questions. The first 100 attendees to fill out an event passport will get a free meal from Dos Hermanos Pupuseria!
