✨ Cosmic Discovery Alert ✨
UC Irvine astronomers have found a nearby exoplanet sitting right in a star’s habitable zone, meaning liquid water could exist on its surface. The exoplanet is possibly rocky, a few times more massive than Earth and a prime target for exploration by the upcoming Thirty Meter Telescope.
In this video, UCI physics and astronomy professor Paul Robertson, a prominent “exoplanet hunter,” explains how this new world is voted “most likely to host life” by scientists.

Thanks to everyone who joined UC Irvine, UCI Health and the City of Irvine for the third annual CicloIrvine open streets event! It was so fun to walk, bike and stroll with the Anteater community along Irvine Boulevard.

🧠 😴 UC Irvine neurobiologists have uncovered a key connection between obstructive sleep apnea during REM sleep and early brain changes linked to cognitive decline.
Their research shows that low oxygen levels during this stage of sleep may harm memory-related brain regions—even in older adults with no signs of impairment.
