I dedicated this show to the upcoming MOBO Awards in Manchester, and it also serves as a slow-paced warm-up for the weekend. Obeka’s Afro House
Whose house? Obeka’s house! Well, Afro House to be specific, and everyone’s invited to break bread and shake a leg on Friday the 12th.
The Oroko radio resident and Me Gusta co-founder steps into the red room to curate a Winter warmer live-session with extra special guests Pooch and Djè Býngi Xh’ulu, showcasing the rhythmic diaspora of contemporary African music. Together they’ll take us on a hip-swivelling, shoulder rolling journey through Afrohouse, Afrotech, Kuduro and Soukous accompanied by LIVE hand-made West African drums and percussion.
We got a little taste of this DJ + live percussion magic at Obeka’s album launch, and we are absolutely delighted for its first appearance in renae.
